McDonald's eggs are sourced from major agricultural suppliers like Cargill (in the U.S.) and others such as Forsman Farms and Herbruck's Poultry Ranch, working with local farms to provide fresh, cage-free eggs for their breakfast items like the Egg McMuffin, with different suppliers like Pace Farm and Sunny Queen in Australia. The eggs are cracked fresh in restaurants for McMuffins, while other items might use liquid eggs, but the core is from large-scale, quality-controlled farms.
As the restaurant chain's egg supplier, Cargill was there to help. We partnered with McDonald's and egg producers to not only supply the eggs, but also to create a sustainable cage-free egg supply chain.
This included Herbruck's Poultry Ranch, a fourth-generation family business in Michigan, operating since 1958 and supplying Cargill for the McDonald's system for decades. “I really can't say enough about our partnership with Cargill and McDonald's.
You might think our free-range eggs are the most essential ingredient in our McMuffin®. Well actually, our most essential ingredient is our British and Irish farmers, all 29,000 of them, and the ones that supply our tasty free-range eggs are all RSPCA assured.
That's right, while some McDonald's eggs are made from packaged liquid eggs, the Egg McMuffin's soft, circular egg patty is cracked fresh, and they get their excellent texture from adding some water to the griddle to steam the egg while it's cooking.
