Rey's bloodline is that of Emperor Palpatine (Darth Sidious); she is the granddaughter of Palpatine, born from his cloned, failed "son," Dathan, making her a genetic descendant of the Sith Lord, a heritage she ultimately rejects to honor the Skywalker family who accepted her. Her parents, Dathan and Miramir, hid her on Jakku to protect her from her Sith grandfather, who intended to claim her as a vessel for his spirit.
The answer, revealed in Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker, rewrote much of what we thought we knew. Rey is the granddaughter of Emperor Palpatine, also known as Darth Sidious or Sheev Palpatine—not through a traditional lineage, but through a failed clone named Dathan, Rey's father.
Father of Rey
Dathan married Miramir and conceived a daughter, Rey, who was born in 15 ABY. Dathan eventully married Miramir.
Born on the planet Hyperkarn in 15 ABY, Rey was the daughter of Dathan and Miramir. While their names were lost to history, Rey's father was the cloned son—an artificial genetic strandcast—of the resurrected Darth Sidious, making her the granddaughter of the fallen Galactic Emperor and Dark Lord of the Sith.
1. Luke Skywalker. Force Abilities: Telekinesis, The Jedi Mind Trick, Similfuturus, Levitation, Force Projection. Luke is indeed one of the strongest Jedi Knights who faced high-ranked menacing Sith lords Vader and Emperor.
Rey is Han Solo and Leia's daughter.
The one twin, Jacen, fell to the dark side. Though the novelizations are no longer canon, many believe Lucasfilm may be loosely adapting Jaina and Jacen as Rey and Kylo Ren.
The birth of a young hero
Soon after the battle, Rey and Solo bonded and conceived their son, Zayne. During her pregnancy, Rey could sense her son through the Force, and felt both the light side and the dark within him, seeing his nature of innocence and strength.
As she explained in the holocron's voice message, Rey became a Skywalker to show her respect for the people who made her who she is, namely Luke Skywalker, Leia Organa, and Ben Solo. "Luke Skywalker was my Master. So was his sister, Leia, and her son, Ben, gave his life for me.
Rey is the biologically created child of Miramir and Dathan. She was not created by the force. Dathan is a strand cast clone of Palpatine. Miramir is just a badass homegrown human.
Palpatine Saw Rey As A Tool, Not A Granddaughter
Kylo Ren idolized his grandfather Darth Vader, but Rey never saw Palpatine in this way, never even acknowledging her familial connection to The Emperor as anything beyond a genetic technicality. For his part, Palpatine didn't really think of Rey as family either.
No, Darth Plagueis is not Anakin Skywalker's father; Anakin had no biological father, being born of the Force itself in response to Plagueis's dark side manipulations, with Palpatine's tales of Plagueis's power over life being a manipulation to turn Anakin to the dark side, though Plagueis's attempts to create life did inadvertently cause Anakin's conception.
"She isn't on Jakku. She's gone." Rey's parents left her on Jakku to prevent Darth Sidious from finding her. The Emperor intended to transfer his spirit to his granddaughter's body, leaving the unstable cloned body that could not sustain his power in the dark side of the Force.
Luke was the last Jedi, then. Rey is the last Jedi, now. The title of each film in the sequel trilogy is a direct reference to the main protagonist of the sequel trilogy, Rey. In the Force awakens, it awakens in her.
Why Do You Think Kylo Ren Was So Obsessed With Rey? He saw her as a useful tool for his rise to power. He was intrigued by the mystery surrounding her. He wanted closure for his defeat at her hands.
Hamill famously objected to certain creative decisions in the film, namely the revelation that Luke Skywalker essentially quit the rebellion after a painful failure and had spent years living a hermit-like existence by himself. “I said to Rian, 'Jedis don't give up.
Rey is Anakin's half sister, and Palpatines relations to Rey through the force. Rey is a genetic experiment/force experiment of immaculate conception orchestrated by palpatine. So Rey is Palpatines daughter or grand daughter, in a metaphorical sense. The same way Anakin is Palpatines son through the force.
In the original trilogy, Yoda lives in solitude on the swamp planet Dagobah. He is introduced as a former mentor of the Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi, and he trains Luke Skywalker in the ways of the Force until his death at the age of 900.
According to TFA's visual dictionary (and I believe the book adaptation as well), Rey is 19 at the beginning of the ST. Meanwhile, Kylo is around 29 in TFA, according to the Aftermath novel (which is canon).
