In some accounts Chaos existed first alongside Eros and Nyx, while in others Chaos is the first and only thing in the universe.
According to Hesiod's Theogony, she was the daughter of Chaos and the mother of numerous primordial powers, including Sleep, Death, the Fates, Nemesis, and Old Age.

Nyx appears to find Hades endearing. When Hades was a child, she was delighted over his world-weary personality and furrowed brow. She had the desire to steal him as her own, but restrained herself. It seems that she enjoys Hades' company, teasing him while he was unconscious in her "realm."
Nyx is older and more powerful than Zeus. Not much is known about Nyx. In the most famous myth featuring Nyx, Zeus is too afraid to enter Nyx's cave for fear of angering her.
