Back in October, Once Upon a Time stunned viewers when they revealed that Mulan (Jamie Chung) was gay and in love with Princess Aurora (Sara Bolger).
Unknown to Aurora and Mulan, Phillip is marked by the wraith and sacrifices himself to keep the two safe by letting the wraith consume his soul. Eventually, Aurora and Mulan manage to resurrect him.
Mulan and Neal go to Rumplestiltskin's castle to find a way back, and when Neal uses Peter Pan's shadow to travel to Neverland, Mulan returns to the palace to tell Aurora that she loves her. However, when she sees her, Aurora reveals that she is pregnant with Phillip's baby.
Mulan's Happy Ending
Why on Earth did poor Mulan not get a happy ending? Not only did her love for Aurora go unrequited, but when it seemed as if she and Ruby might be falling for one another (a pairing that fans even gave a name, dubbing it Mulan Rouge), bam, Ruby fell for Dorothy instead.
Shang survives the accident and arrives in time to stop the wedding but ultimately Mulan is saved by Mushu who, posing as the mighty Golden Dragon of Unity, frees the three princesses from their vows, and marries Mulan and Li Shang himself causing Mulan to forgive him for his actions.
Some time later, Mulan and Shang officially marry in Mulan's village, and Mushu accepts the loss of his position. However, Shang combines the family temples, enabling Mushu to continue being a guardian spirit. While celebrating, Mushu accidentally reveals himself to Shang and Mulan.
