DC Comics' Raven's mother is Arella, whose birth name was Angela Roth, a human woman from Gotham City who was tricked into marrying the demon Trigon, leading to Raven's birth in the dimension of Azarath. She's known for her deep connection to mystical realms and her powerful, often conflicted, relationship with her demonic husband and daughter.
Instead of dying, Angela was taken to the interdimensional temple of Azarath and changed her name to Arella, meaning "Messenger Angel". Soon after giving birth to Raven, Arella gave up her maternal care to the priestess Azar.
Angela Azarath was the lover of Trigon and the biological mother of Rachel Roth, as well as an acolyte of Trigon's cult , only to lure Rachel to her in Agnews Asylum getting her trust and later trick her into invoking Trigon back to Earth.
Arella was a depressed woman who decided to join a cult known as the Church of Blood, which was trying to summon Trigon. When the ritual was performed, Trigon, disguised as a handsome male, emerged and married Arella. After the two had sex, Arella discovered Trigon's true nature after seeing his true form.
Teen Titans origins
In their inter-dimensional world, Raven, Arella's daughter by Trigon, was born. Fearing that the child would bring evil among them, Juris, a magistrate of Azarath, attempted to cast the infant Raven into Limbo, only to be destroyed himself.
