Tricked by his father-in-law into marrying his true love's sister, Jacob waited 14 years before he could be with Rachel.
Abraham waited a long time before the Lord gave him any children. David waited some 15 years to become king of Israel. But they both had clear and specific promises from God about what would happen in their lives.
Forced to serve Rachel's father, Laban, for seven years to win her, Jacob was tricked at the end of that time into marrying her sister, Leah. He was then allowed to marry Rachel as well, in return for seven more years of labour.

Abraham waited for 25 years. Joseph waited 13 years. Moses waited 25 years.

Rebekah waited 20 years to give birth to Jacob and Esau.
How Long Was Joseph in Prison? Joseph was in prison for two years after he interpreted the dreams of the chief butler and baker (see Genesis 41:1). He was sold into slavery when he was about seventeen (see Genesis 37:2), and he was thirty years of age when he became vice-regent to the pharaoh (see Genesis 41:46).
However, Jesus was going to perform a miracle far greater than the one Martha had requested. Martha's patience was tested in the waiting, and she even resisted Him when He prepared to give her this greater miracle.

But, this prophet from the tribe of Asher finds her place in biblical history and points us to a life lived in expectation. It is fitting that Anna's story wraps up the biblical Christmas narrative. She is a woman who has been waiting for the redemption of Jerusalem for over 80 years.
Yahweh then told Abraham that Sarah would give to him a son. Sarah, then ninety years old, laughed at this idea. But, as prophesied, she became pregnant with Isaac and she nursed him herself.
Sarah's Death and Burial. Sarah died at the age of 127, which was young in comparison to Abraham, who lived to the age of 175.
The Great Delay
Then it was another 7 years of prosperity in the land and several years of famine before his family came to Egypt for grain. So there was 13 years from the time of the dream to the rise in power and another 10 or so years before the fulfillment of Joseph's dreams.
