Luffy defeating Kaidō in One Piece Chapter 1049 has been one of the biggest milestones of his career as a pirate. It officially made him one of the Four Emperors and established him as one of the strongest living characters in the world of One Piece.
With his strongest attack, called Bajrang gun, Luffy sent Kaido crashing from Onigashima into the underground of Wano. Kaido was completely knocked out by the ferocity of Luffy's strike and ended up in the same place as Yonko Big Mom.
In the end, it was not just Luffy's awakening form that single-handedly wiped off Kaido in the battle. Still, the Ryuo technique and Luffy's handiness of Haki also played a vital role in the Yonko's defeat. In the battle, Luffy's Gear 5 transformation was just Kaido's final nail in the coffin.
The final clash between Kaido and Luffy happened at the very end of the Wano Country Arc, after Luffy discovered the true powers of his Devil Fruit and activated Gear 5. Luffy finally managed to defeat Kaido after losing to the Yonko on several occasions.
Kaido did in fact lose to Luffy's Gear 5 at the end of the Wano Country arc. However, keep in mind that he withstood multiple waves of strong enemies before this final encounter. Luffy was also completely worn out after the fight and fell into a coma for about a week.
Garp Is Considered To Be One Of The Strongest Marines. Also renowned as 'Garp The Hero' and 'Garp The Fist', Monkey D. Garp is a Vice-Admiral of the Marines. Being their strongest known member in history, there's no denying that Garp is capable of taking on Kaido.
Shortly after fighting Kaido and getting defeated, Zoro was given a super recovery drug from Zou and he was back at his very best. Instead of fighting Kaido again, Zoro took on King the Wildfire, the second-strongest member of the Beasts Pirates.
However, ultimately, Big Mom is defeated by Eustass Kid and Trafalgar D. Water Law who sent her flying down into an underground magma chamber and caught in a massive volcanic eruption, which presumably killed her. Additionally, Kingbaum is destroyed by Big Mom's summoned sun homie Prometheus.
Luffy has already lost to Kaido twice, the first time ending up with him in prison and the second with him being thrown off the floating island in defeat.
As for Mihawk vs Kaido , as much as i love Mihawk that fight he would lose. Kaido is just too damn strong. If he had help then probably. Mihawk can't win against Kaido who had insane strength that is enough to destroy half of an island.
Garp may be old right now, however, he is still more than capable of taking on Shanks in battle. This is evident from the fact that he recently set out to fight not just Blackbeard, but his entire crew on his own so as to rescue Koby from the grasp of the Yonko.
Maybe he thus wanted to help out in Marineford but Shanks stopped him because he is the "evil" person in here. Maybe Shanks didn't yet wanted a all out fight against the Marines but in a near future? That's why he immediatly stopped it after he made it to Marineford.
He is considered the strongest character in the series because Shanks is the only one who has not properly shown his strength, which the world fears and respects. Shanks, without a doubt, has everything necessary to go toe-to-toe with Kaido in a true fight and even win under the right circumstances.
One Piece 1049: Luffy Triumphs Over Kaido.
With the power of the Goro Goro no Mi, he was practically invincible against everyone there, except for Luffy, who could resist his lightning powers due to his Gomu Gomu no Mi powers. Despite being at a clear disadvantage, Enel was able to defeat Luffy once.

Yamato was capable of holding back Kaido and that's all an Admiral has to do. Kid and Law took down Linlin, two Admirals would decimate her. Once that happens, Three Admirals at the same time vs Kaido would destroy him in a minute. Admirals also has greater teamwork than two yonko.
After landing an incredibly audacious attack on the Yonko, Luffy was able to send him crashing down into the ground. The force behind the punch proved to be so tremendous that Kaido completely passed out and went kilometers under the ground.
Kaido is an Oni. Oni are hulking, monstrous demons in Japanese mythology. In the One Piece Universe, Kaido is an Oni (Ogre) and is a separate species as humans.
Garp has decades more experience probably even with advanced Haki while Luffy literally just learned it and cannot even proficiently control it. It hardly even counts as a powerup unless Luffy gains some semblance of control over it. It does Luffy little good simply to have advanced armament haki.
