Hufflepuffs are more Peace over true feelings, so if you're weirding out a hufflepuff, they'll be weirded out and uncomfortable but prefer peace and still like you.

So it's no big surprise that Ravenclaw house has the reputation of being the smartest house in the world of Harry Potter. While the vast majority of Ravenclaw students are at least above average in their intelligence, being in Ravenclaw certainly isn't a guarantee that someone is smart.
Worst: Lucius Malfoy
Lucius Malfoy is pretty clearly a bad person, but he's a perfect example of how banal cruelty and evilness can be. Lucius likes to control, humiliate, and cause people pain, but he's also too weak and self-absorbed to really become one of the evil "greats," so to speak.
After a fellow Slytherin, the next best match for this shrewd house would probably be Ravenclaw. A Slytherin could use Ravenclaw's intellectual and inquisitive nature to their advantage, plan their world domination in minute detail.
It shouldn't be hard to believe, but Draco Malfoy was the second most intelligent student in all of Harry's year. That Slytherin determination can accomplish quite a lot. Draco received at least three OWLs (including both Transfiguration and Potions) and he is very competitive with Hermione.
The traits that get you placed into Slytherin are ambition, resourcefulness, determination, and cleverness. An association with villainous characters and elitism has given Slytherin the reputation of being an evil house.
Gryffindor is the most populous House on Pottermore and I think Hufflepuff would be one of the “easiest” to get into, as Hufflepuff rarely will turn away a student who wants to learn.

Harry Potter came very close to being sorted into Slytherin before he persuaded the Hat to sort him into Gryffindor. Gryffindor's characteristic is bravery. Bravery might not seem terrible, but it is possible to be too brave (which countless Gryffindors are).
Slytherins have a fear of failure since their cunning mentalities encourage them to be perfect at all times. Repeated failures are what people of the house are really afraid of, though, because it opens up the possibility for them to consider that they might be weak in some way.
Unfortunately, Slytherin has constantly been associated with evil witches and wizards. Most of this negativity surrounding Slytherin came because of the rise of Lord Voldemort and his followers, the Death Eaters.
