Hermione stunned Rabastan and his head fell into the bell jar and rapidly turned into a baby and then back into a grown man and then back to a baby. Rabastan was able to pull his head out, but he was incapacitated as a grown man's body with a baby's head.
Karkaroff turned in several other Death Eaters in the Wizengamot, and thanks to his testimony, his crimes were pardoned. Karkaroff went on to later success, as he became the headmaster at Durmstrang.
Francis Crabbe was a pure-blood wizard, a Death Eater and the father of Vincent Crabbe. Crabbe fought at the First Wizarding War.

Snape's careful planning saved the day many times. If this list spoke to emotional intelligence, there'd be a different conclusion - terrorizing eleven-year-olds and staying hung up on your high school crush for literal decades are sure choices - but Snape was definitely the smartest Death Eater.
Bellatrix was the first female Death Eater introduced in the books. Bellatrix had a fanatic obsession with the Dark Lord although she was clearly fearful of his magical abilities and absolute power over his forces.
