The dragon, a mythical animal thought to reign over the heavens, stands for yang. The tiger, respected in ancient China as mightiest of the wild beasts, stands for yin. The screens illustrate why these two animals, both of them powerful and strong, are fitting symbols for yin and yang.
The Yin White Tiger
The feng shui white tiger represents the yin chi, the direction West, the color white, and the metal element. It is an embodiment of purpose and patience (much as a tiger deliberately and patiently stalks its prey).
Negative, or yin, are water and earth signs: Taurus, Cancer, Virgo, Scorpio, Capricorn, and Pisces. You are a Yin type if your chart is made up of mostly earth and water. These signs are Taurus, Cancer, Virgo, Scorpio, Capricorn, and Pisces.
In Asia, each of the cardinal directions is traditionally ruled by a mythical creature. The Azure Dragon, a symbol of spring, stands for the East; the White Tiger, a symbol of autumn, rules the West.
The Meaning of Yin & Yang Colors
Yin is black. Yang is white. As Yin is black, it symbolizes shadow or darkness, things that are quieter, aloof, the moon, and all things with dark energy. The white of Yang on the other hand, is used to symbolize warmth, positive energy, active motion, and the sun.
The flying dragon and prowling tiger also came to represent heaven and earth. The two creatures convey the ancient Chinese concept of yin and yang, whereby all things—male and female, calm and movement, shade and sunshine, moon and sun—are defined and complemented by their opposites.
A person with prominent yin energy exhibits a passive attitude to life. This person is laid back and often fairly quiet in social situations. A yin person enjoys solitude and a quiet, peaceful environment. Yin people are very nurturing and enjoy creating a home (nest) for themselves and their family.
In feng shui, yin energy is considered to be slow, cool, wet, and dark. It is related to curves, inactivity, and softness. The energy of the moon is more yin. Other descriptive qualities include invisible and relaxed.
The Dog has the essence of Yang(one half of the two symbolic polarities in Chinese philosophy, with Yin as its counterpart) according to the Yin-Yang Theory.
You've probably heard of the yin yang symbol, which is an ancient Chinese symbol for the union of opposites — the masculine and feminine energies that are present in all of life. Yin is the feminine life force of receptivity, while yang is the masculine force of action.
Yin: Yin is characterized as negative, passive, and feminine. It represents the energy of the Earth and moon. It is often described as receptive, dark, cool, soft, still, and contemplative. Yang: Yang is portrayed as positive, active, and masculine.
On the other extreme, you can get two Yins together too. That is interesting, because they are both full of ideas, but they keep waiting for the other to take the action. If they don't take action they will lose respect for each other and it can build resentment between them.
Yin–Yang balance is an essential concept in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) theory. Yin represents stable and inhibitory factors, and Yang represents the active and aggressive factors.
Since the zodiac animal cycle of 12 is divisible by two, every zodiac sign can occur only as either yin or yang: the Dragon is always yang, the Snake is always yin, etc. The current cycle began in 1984 (as shown in "Table of the sixty-year calendar" below).
Huye (lit. “Lord Tiger") is a god in Chinese folk religion who is generally worshiped in temples of other Chinese deities. With the appearance of a tiger, Huye is usually believed to be the guardian of other gods.
Soy products such as tofu and beansprouts, crab (such as the Shanghai hairy crab), most fruits, and vegetables such as watercress, cucumbers, carrots and cabbage are considered yin foods.
Yin is typically associated with feminine energy, introversion, the cold, the moon, passive qualities, and the dark. Yang is typically associated with masculine energy, extroversion, heat, the sun, active qualities, and light.
Feminine energy is supposed to be yin, receptive, gentle, intuitive,and fulfilling. Masculine energy is supposed to be yang, active, fast, fierce, emptying, goal-oriented and focused.
These two animals represent the struggle between the positive and negative Chi energies. The focus of Chi energy is to maintain the balance between the two forces. This pair perfectly fits the Chi energy balance, as the dragon is offensive while the tiger is defensive. Therefore, both are potent rivals of each other.
Dragons in Chinese culture symbolize great power, good luck and strength. They represent power and authority, particularly control over typhoons, water, rainfall and floods. Emperors were assumed to have descended from the dragons.

Food can be described as strongly yin (cold), yin (fresh), neutral, yang (warm), and strongly yang (hot). Yin food 'refreshes' the body. Almost all green vegetables are included in this category – artichokes, spinach, cucumbers and so on.
