From Chats, tap and hold on the group chat you'd like to ignore. Tap Ignore.
Reversing the "Ignore" action in email
How to Ignore Someone. Limit your interactions with this person by avoiding spending time with them or hanging out at places you know they'll be. When you do have to talk to them, respond politely with short answers that show your disinterest in continuing the conversation.
If you don't want to block someone but still want to avoid getting constant alerts, muting message notifications is a great option.
If you are dealing with someone who simply doesn't respond to your text, as I said earlier, this is someone who either wants you to chase them or is not interested.
On an iPhone or Android device, simply open Messenger and navigate to the chat you'd like to restrict. Tap on the person's name at the top of the screen; there you'll find options including 'Restrict. ' Confirm your choice and voilà! You've successfully muted that conversation without burning any bridges.
They get no message at all. They would have no idea if you have chat turned off or if you ignored it.
Practical signs someone may have muted you
No active status updates or last active timestamps: Messenger's “Active now” or “Last active” indicators can be unreliable, but if they appear online frequently yet ignore your DMs while responding to others, mute is possible.
The status of the message will remain sent unless he/she accepted it. If ignored then you will not know it either. It will remain sent on your end.
When you Mute a thread, the future messages from that particular thread continue to appear in the Messenger Inbox. In case of Ignore, the thread moves to Message Requests and disappears from the main Inbox as mentioned before. The new messages will no longer appear on the Messenger home screen.
Step 1 – From Chats, long press the chat of the person you'd like to block and tap Block. Step 2 – Block the user just on Messenger or also block them on Facebook. You can also block them from their profile.
If they don't ask for your input in friendly discussions or show any curiosity about what you're thinking, it may mean they're trying to ignore you. They may try to skip over you when asking others about their day, avoid asking you how you feel about a decision, or even ignore you when you share your perspective.
By putting someone “out sight, out of mind” you are simply not letting them get to you. If you pass by them, you can nod, or wave but don't feel like you have to go over and talk to them. Even if you are a social butterfly, leave this person off your list.
WHAT TO DO WHEN SOMEONE HURTS YOU
If you're using the Messenger app on your iPhone or Android device, you can turn on a Do Not Disturb mode within the app itself.
However, the big distinction is that, unlike with a Block, Ignore will still let them see your profile and activity and allow them to send you messages (which you won't know about unless you unhide them). But they will be none-the-wiser about their Ignore status.
When someone blocks you, you can no longer see their last seen or online in chat. Any message sent to that person will always show one check . This show's the message is not delivered.
