Angels, in religious and spiritual beliefs, originate from a divine source, created by God (or a supreme being) as spiritual beings in a heavenly realm, not born or reproducing like humans, but individually created before Earth, serving as messengers and protectors, appearing in various traditions from Abrahamic faiths (Bible, Quran) to concepts in Hinduism and even fiction like Evangelion, often associated with light, guidance, or the afterlife.
According to the Summa Theologica, angels were created instantaneously by God in a state of grace in the Empyrean Heaven (LXI. 4) at the same time when he created all the contents of the corporeal world (LXI. 3). They are pure spirits whose life consists in knowledge and love.

We Didn't Exist Before We Were Born
He makes a distinction between His preexistence 'from above', that is heaven, and their origin 'from below', that is this world. The apostle Paul is in total agreement with Jesus, he clearly says that 'the natural body comes first, then the spiritual', 1 Corinthians 15:46-47.

Finding feathers, especially in unexpected places, can be a sign that angels are watching over you. It's like they're leaving little breadcrumbs of their presence as a reminder that you're never alone on your journey.
Occasionally angels will come to give direction to people in unusually difficult circumstances. But they will not be female angels. Even at that, normal day-to-day guidance comes from the Holy Spirit within, not from angels. The Bible is clear.

Yes! Just as in Biblical times, angels come to people when they are dreaming. Perhaps God chooses this way because we are more relaxed and open to his presence when we are asleep. While most people never have such an angelic visitation, it is more common than most people think.
Signs of an Angel in Human Form
While the Bible doesn't give us details about their origin, it seems that angels existed before the world was created, and through all eternity they will continue to serve and praise God. We are not to worship them, however, for only God is worthy of our worship (see Revelation 22:8-9).
