Harry would have been internally conflicted if he had been Sorted into Slytherin. Although he still would have felt that Hogwarts was the only place he had ever belonged, he might have felt wary forming relationships with the children of Death Eaters.
But Harry did share some Slytherin traits: he was ambitious and cunning, always sneaking around after hours and cooking up plans with Ron and Hermione. His green eyes even match the house.
If Harry Potter was a Slytherin, would Snape have treated him better? No. Slytherin or not, Harry is James' son, and Snape never forgave him for it. If anything, as the Head of Harry's House, Harry would be more exposed to Snape and under more of Snape's power.

No. I think we all can agree that, based on the CoS, Tom Riddle was the Heir of Slytherin. He was related to Salazar Slytherin, and so was Harry, but Harry in a less direct way (via eg. the House of Gaunt).

The Heir of Slytherin turns out to be Ginny Weasley, who is being controlled via a magical diary that once belonged to Tom Riddle, AKA Voldemort.
But when they went to Hogwarts, everything changed. The pair were parted when the Sorting Hat placed Severus in Slytherin and Lily in Gryffindor, and while Lily thrived in her new, magical life, Snape was essentially placed in close quarters with the likes of Lucius Malfoy, Avery and Mulciber.
No, the Sorting Hat doesn't sort too early. First things first, there have been a couple of occasions when the Sorting Hat has possibly made a mistake. The most obvious example would be Peter Pettigrew – who rather than demonstrating courage and chivalry, was weak with a real knack for self-preservation.
The only reason Hermione wasn't put in Slytherin is because she's muggleborn. Way to perpetuate Slytherin's elitist mentality, Sorting Hat… A singular trait isn't enough to place you in a house, no matter how dominant it is. Hermione is intelligent, but that doesn't automatically mean she's a Ravenclaw.
Belonging to the Black family, Phineas is one of Slytherin's loveliest members. Taking a greater moral standpoint than his other family members, who mostly believe in pure-blood supremacy, this good-natured wizard has shown himself to be an especially well-behaved member of the otherwise unruly Hogwarts house.
Foxes are cunning, resourceful and fiercely intelligent – remind you of anything? That's right – we wouldn't be surprised if some members of Slytherin house find themselves with a fox Patronus. Foxes are also highly adaptable and can live in many diverse habitats around the world.
Salazar Slytherin
One of the four most brilliant witches and wizards of his age it takes quite a bit of cunning and smarts to both build and hide a secret chamber beneath the school, and the noses, of the other most brilliant wizards and witches of the age.
Her real parents were Daneel and Dean Novak, Pureblooded wizards. Turns out Daneel was Tom Riddles younger sister, Daneel Riddle. Of course, the Riddles were related to Salzar Slytherin himself, and this made Hermione the living heir of Slytherin. The problem with being a female Slytherin heir, is that they're cursed.
He actually asked the Sorting Hat to place him in Hufflepuff, as he was intimidated by Gryffindor's reputation for bravery, but the Sorting Hat didn't agree. They debated it for so long, that he was close to being what is known as a Hatstall, which is a term for any student whose Sorting takes longer than five minutes.
Although Harry missed out on the Sortings in his second, third, and sixth year, he did manage to hear the others.
Moreover, her being a part of Gryffindor allowed her character arc to develop so well that she ultimately became one of the strongest and bravest witches of the Harry Potter world. It allowed her to understand who she is, and that is someone who has so much more depth than her good scores and book-based intelligence.
Moaning Myrtle
Born in the late 1920s to Muggle parents, Myrtle Warren started her Hogwarts life in the early 1940s, where she was sorted into Ravenclaw. She had no friends, and was bullied relentlessly because of her glasses and acne.
At Hogwarts, she, along with her sisters, was sorted into Slytherin. It is suggested in the novels that, as a student, Bellatrix associated with a group of students – including Rodolphus Lestrange, Severus Snape, Avery, Evan Rosier and Wilkes – who nearly all became Death Eaters.
Voldemort intentionally made six Horcruxes, but when he used Avada Kedavra on Harry, he unintentionally created a seventh Horcrux. Instead of dying, Lily's love for Harry created a counter 'curse' known as Sacrificial Protection and saved Harry.
Myrtle's life was cut shockingly short when she was killed by the Basilisk at Tom Riddle's command.
Through this dialogue, Tom grew stronger and ultimately poured a little of his soul into Ginny, manipulating her to kill Hagrid's roosters and open the Chamber of Secrets.
Harry is the Heir of Gryffindor (though his powers have been bound by his father when he was a baby), Neville is the Heir of Hufflepuff, Meghan (OFC, daughter of Sirius) is the Heir of Ravenclaw.
