Qui-Gon's final wish is that Obi-Wan train Anakin as a Jedi, believing the boy is the chosen one who will bring balance to the Force.
He found the key to immortality.
By using the living and cosmic Force in tandem, he was able to unlock the secrets of eternal life.
"He Is The Chosen One. He Will Bring Balance. Train Him." — Qui-Gon Jinn. Qui-Gon Jinn and Obi-Wan Kenobi's lightsaber duel against Darth Maul was one of the things from The Phantom Menace that holds up today, and it ended with Qui-Gon's death.
The book then digs into one of the final scenes in The Phantom Menace, where Anakin watches Qui-Gon's funeral pyre blaze and “feeling a profound sense of loss.” After leaving his mother and the only home he's ever known, Anakin then experienced intense battle and the loss of a person who promised him a better future.
Qui-Gon Jinn was more attuned to the Force than any other prequel Jedi, and that's one reason why Emperor Palpatine needed him dead.
Palpatine admits to Darth Vader that the Jedi he actually feared most was none other than Jocasta Nu.
There, he discovered Anakin Skywalker, a boy with enormous strength in the Force. Qui-Gon believed Anakin was the Chosen One, prophesied to bring balance to the Force, and that their meeting was no accident.
It's not shown, but it is clearly insinuated that Anakin killed the younglings. This is confirmed later in the movie when Obi-Wan informs Padme that Anakin killed them. Both are torn apart with hurt and confusion, trying to make sense of something so terrible. How could Anakin do such a thing?
With how seamlessly a lightsaber can cut through a body, a single strike can be the end for any unlucky victim. One such example is Qui-Gon Jinn, who was struck with a single puncture through the stomach and passed away shortly after.
The Younglings Reminded Anakin of How Different He Was
Those negative emotions also power the dark side, meaning Anakin likely felt stronger as he killed the younglings. That, in turn, reinforced his belief that only the dark side could save Padmé.
The reason why Qui-Gon Jinn is the most powerful Jedi in the galaxy is because he had seen everything that would unfold throughout the Skywalker Saga in a vision of the future, sacrificing himself to ensure the fulfilling of the Chosen One prophecy.
He can't call out to Qui-Gon Jinn because he has barely retained a connection with the Cosmic Force. It's why his mind is plagued by the kind of images and voices that drove Anakin to the Dark Side. Obi-Wan has lost his way in much the same way Luke Skywalker will one day.
Kara Jinn was the illegitimate daughter of Jedi Masters Qui-Gon Jinn and Tahl. She was born two years before Tahl's death and was brought to the Jedi High Council as an infant by Qui-Gon to begin her training.

As well as being a gifted bladesman Sidious' connection to the Dark Side is extremely powerful, granting Sidious the ability to conduct force lightning.
Darth Sidious was able to cheat his upcoming death by transferring his spirit into a clone body while falling into the reactor core of the second Death Star. He later sought to prolong his existence by futilely manipulating his grandchild Rey into killing him so he could live further by possessing her body.
Star Wars' Qui-Gon Jinn would have been the ideal mentor for the young Anakin. Not only could he have been a better source of guidance than Obi-Wan Kenobi in many regards, but he would have also prevented Palpatine from stoking...

Ultimately, Anakin's yellow eyes serve as a visual representation of his descent to evil, a cue for audiences to pick up on while watching the film.
However, when Palpatine destroyed the Republic, Panaka sided with him. Though he never acted against Padme, his support of Palpatine included the support of a stronger military presence, which was a betrayal of her ideals.
Yoda didn't specifically know how this would go down, or to what degree Anakin would cause it to happen, but he was playing a much longer game by Revenge of the Sith, and that's at least, in part, explained by Yoda's Force connection with Qui-Gon's spirit.

Having covertly turned Kylo Ren—Anakin's grandson and Luke's nephew—to the dark side, Palpatine orders Ren to find and kill Rey, the last remaining Jedi and Palpatine's paternal granddaughter. Palpatine is ultimately defeated and destroyed by Rey.
