Jesus ate both meat and fish, including lamb for Passover and fish after his resurrection, as recorded in the Gospels; as a Jew, he would have followed kosher laws, consuming clean meats like lamb, goat, chicken, and fish with scales, though meat was likely a rare treat, with fish and plant-based foods forming the bulk of his diet.
When He ate meat, He ate only clean meats—such as fish with fins and scales, lamb, goat and beef. If you are a Christian who tries to follow Jesus' example, it's time to start eating like He did. A listing of biblically clean and unclean animals is available as an infographic in the Life, Hope & Truth Learning Center.
The drink offered to our Lord was vinegar (made of light wine rendered acid, the common drink of Roman soldiers) "mingled with gall," or, according to ( Mark 15:23 ), "mingled with myrrh;" both expressions meaning the same thing, namely, that the vinegar was made bitter by the infusion of wormwood or some other bitter ...
God states that cud-chewing animals with split hooves can be eaten (Leviticus 11:3; Deuteronomy 14:6). These specifically include the cattle, sheep, goat, deer and gazelle families (Deuteronomy 14:4-5). He also lists such animals as camels, rabbits and pigs as being unclean, or unfit to eat (Leviticus 11:4-8).
So Jesus is declared all foods clean regardless of the traditional washing. When the NLT says every food is acceptable in God's eyes it is absolutely accurate. Pork was never considered food in this context either by Jesus or the pharisees.
Christians may eat pork because God has declared it once more to be clean. “What God has declared clean you must not call common” (Acts 10:15). Pork is one of those “foods which God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and know the truth” (1Timothy 4:3).
(Leviticus 11:13–19). - Shellfish: Foods like shrimp and lobster are foods that the Bible says not to eat, because they don't have fins and scales. (Leviticus 11:10).
Carnivores. The birds listed as unclean. Unclean things were numerous and included leprosy, menstruating women, dead bodies, shell fish, and pigs. More are probably carrion-eaters (who eat flesh with its blood in it, forbidden in Genesis 9:4-5; Leviticus 11:39), and none of the acceptable animals are carnivores.
Cooking with pork isn't without risk. "In places around the world with high pork consumption, an infection called trichinosis is a concern. The infection can be fatal. It is caused by the Trichinella roundworm, which is found in undercooked and raw pork," says Burdeos.
Old Testament. Some Christians interpret that to mean that vegetarianism was part of God's original purpose and plan for both man and the animals. Because of that, they've decided that vegetarianism is a necessary part of a redeemed and sanctified life.
But, having tasted this vinegar mixed with gall, He realized that drinking it was something He could not do if He was to finish His work and fulfil His Father's will.
Mark 15:23 "And they gave him to drink wine mingled with myrrh: but he received it not." About myrrh is called "gall" (original word: χολή (about taste)), probably same word was used in Aramaic. In Arabic مُرّ (murr) means "bitter" but مُرّ also means "myrrh".
So the first wine (mixed with myrrh) was designed to dull Jesus' pain, to keep him from having to endure the cross with full consciousness. This wine he refused. And the second (sour) wine was given to keep him “conscious for as long as possible,” and thus have the effect of prolonging his pain.
The foods He likes best are flatbread, olives, raisins, figs, pomegranates, grapes, honey, and almonds.
Are there foods a Christian should not eat? Yes, the Bible teaches there are meats that are designated as “unclean” (or unfit) for human consumption. These meats include pork, shellfish and the meat of other specific animals, sea creatures and birds.
In fact, he drank wine—the fermented kind, not grape juice, as some will claim—and apparently he drank a fair amount of it.
The most unhealthy meats are processed meats (bacon, hot dogs, salami, deli meats) due to high salt, fat, and preservatives (nitrates/nitrites) linked to cancer, heart disease, and diabetes; followed by fatty red meats (beef, lamb, pork) and charred/burnt meats cooked at high temperatures, which form carcinogens; while even poultry becomes unhealthy with skin, heavy breading, and high sodium.
Pork is classified as najas, meaning it is inherently unclean and defiling. Consuming pork would compromise a Muslim's state of purity, making them unfit for certain religious activities. However, in exceptional circumstances such as excessive hunger or starvation, Muslims are permitted to eat pork.
Energy Loss. You may feel tired and weak if you cut meat out of your diet. That's because you're missing an important source of protein and iron, both of which give you energy. The body absorbs more iron from meat than other foods, but it's not your only choice.
The only dietary restrictions specified for Christians in the New Testament are to "abstain from food sacrificed to idols, from blood, from meat of strangled animals" (Acts 15:29), teachings that the early Church Fathers, such as Clement of Alexandria and Origen, preached for believers to follow.

As a Christian you are not supposed to eat Catfish because (Leviticus 11:9-12) says you shall not eat any sea creature that does not have fins and scales. Eg. Crab, Shrimps, Eel, Clam, Lobster, Oyster, Catfish and Crayfish.
Vitamins B6 and B12, also found abundantly in pork, are essential for blood cell formation and brain function. Pork is also an excellent source of iron — the heme-iron found in red meats is absorbed very easily by the human digestive system. The selenium in pork is essential for proper thyroid function.
Generally, Shia scholars permit only fish that have scales and shrimp, considering them Halal. Other shellfish like crabs, lobsters, and mollusks are often deemed haram. This distinction is based on specific Hadiths considered authoritative and interpretations of religious texts within the Shia tradition.
