Melanoma can be shrunk by powerful treatments like immunotherapy (checkpoint inhibitors, T-VEC virus), targeted therapy (BRAF/MEK inhibitors), radiation therapy, and sometimes even specific creams (imiquimod), which work by activating the immune system or directly attacking cancer cells, often shrinking tumors and controlling advanced disease when surgery isn't enough.
Chemotherapy. Chemotherapy uses medicines to kill cancer cells. It's sometimes used to treat advanced melanoma (where it's spread to another part of the body).

Because these cells have already penetrated the tumor, they can be harnessed as a strong force in the fight against cancer. TIL treatment involves removing the immune cells from a patient's tumor, then growing them in a lab to multiply the fighting force.
Melanoma can go away on its own. Melanoma on the skin can spontaneously regress, or begin to, without any treatment. That's because the body's immune system is able launch an assault on the disease that's strong enough to spur its retreat.
If it is recognized and treated early, chances of recovery are very good. But if it is not found early, it can grow deeper into the skin, and spread to other parts of the body. Once melanoma spreads beyond the skin to other parts of the body, it becomes hard to treat and can be fatal.

Main causes of melanoma skin cancer
Ultraviolet (UV) light is the most common cause of melanoma. It comes from the sun and is used in sunbeds. Melanoma is more common in older people, but younger people can also get it.
