During this, it's understood that USS Samuel B. Roberts was critically hit by a battleship, killing 89 people as it sank. Now, its remains lie at depths nearly four times as great as the Grand Canyon - far deeper than the Titanic.
The most famous is the Titanic, but it is far from being the only well-known one. Among the most prominent we find the deepest wreck ever identified: a destroyer escort of the United States Navy which sank during World War II, called the USS Samuel B. Roberts. It was lost to the sea in the year 1944.
World's Deepest Shipwreck Discovered Four Miles Underwater in the Philippines. The U.S.S. Samuel B Roberts, also known as the “Sammy B,” was discovered in the Philippine Sea at a depth of 22,916 feet last week by a team of explorers. The wreck is the deepest ever found, per the Associated Press.
The destroyer, USS Samuel B. Roberts was identified on Wednesday, broken into two pieces on a slope at the depth of around 6,985 meters (around 22,916 feet). To put things into perspective, the popular Titanic sank and rests at a depth of around 12,600 feet.
Bismarck was only slightly smaller than Titanic, and it was three thousand feet deeper -- three miles deep! There they found evidence to support the scuttling story.
The third phase on the morning of 27 May was an attack by the British battleships King George V and Rodney supported by cruisers. After about 100 minutes of fighting, Bismarck was sunk by the combined effects of shellfire, torpedo hits and deliberate scuttling.
Of the some 2,300 crew aboard the Bismarck, only about 110 survived. In 1989 an expedition led by American oceanographer Robert Ballard located the wreck of the Bismarck. The battleship was found lying upright at a depth of more than 15,000 feet (4,572 metres).
They set up an underwater survey of more than 100 square miles of the oceans floor. The USS Nevada was located 65 nautical miles southwest of Pearl Harbor at a depth of 15,400 feet. The USS Nevada is one of the US Navy's longest serving battleships and viewed as the epitome of American Resilience and perseverance.

The Extremely Ancient Dokos Shipwreck
Among them, the Dokos wreck is thought to be the oldest shipwreck found to date. It dates before c. 2200 BCE, judging by the pottery cargo it carried. It was discovered by Peter in 1975 at a depth of fifteen to thirty meters near the Greek island of Dokos.
HMHS Britannic
Britannic sank less than an hour after the explosion. The majority of the people safely made it off the ship; however 30 casualties occurred, primarily attributed to the premature launch of lifeboats. Today, Britannic is the largest vessel sitting on the ocean floor.
In her short career in the Pacific War, Tang sank 33 ships totalling 116,454 tons. Commander Richard O'Kane received the Medal of Honor for her last two engagements (23 and 24 October 1944).

Situated in 3,800 metres of water approximately 380 miles south-east of St John's in Newfoundland, the Titanic wreck was last visited by humans in 2005. The EYOS Expeditions team deployed the Triton submersible Limiting Factor from research vessel Pressure Drop and conducted several dives to the wreck over 10 days.
For instance, the US Navy's nuclear-powered submarines usually operate at 800 feet or less - meaning they can't dive down to the ocean floor, where water pressure on the submarine hull could make it implode.
Titanic Sinking
The ship had 16 watertight compartments designed to keep it afloat if damaged. This led to the belief that the ship was unsinkable. However, only four days into its maiden voyage, the Titanic struck an iceberg near Newfoundland, Canada.

Meet Wonder of the Seas
At about five times the size of Titanic, the world's largest cruise ship is Royal Caribbean's Wonder of the Seas.
But the Navy also has its fair share of unfortunate vessels — chief among them the USS William D. Porter, a Fletcher-class destroyer built during World War II. Known to its crew as "Willie Dee," the destroyer was, with little doubt, the unluckiest ship in US Navy history.

Robert Ballard's expedition in 1989, the wreck of the Bismarck was not visited again until the year 2001. From 5-14 June 2001, an expedition was organized by Deep Ocean Expeditions (DOE) headed by Australian Michael McDowell. What was different about this one was the actual taking of people to the wreck.
In July 2001, the wreck of the Hood was found 9,334 feet below the surface of the Denmark Straight.
At least 1,415 men died when Hood sank in the Denmark Strait on 24 May 1941. This was the Royal Navy's greatest loss on a single ship of the Second World War. When the Bismarck was sunk 9 days later over 2000 sailors perished.
