Gen Z: Gen Z is the newest generation, born between 1997 and 2012. They are currently between 9 and 24 years old (nearly 68 million in the U.S.) Gen A: Generation Alpha starts with children born in 2012 and will continue at least through 2025, maybe later (approximately 48 million people in the U.S.)
Gen Alpha, born between 2010 and 2025, are the first generation born completely within the 21st century. And while Gen Z were our first true digital natives, Gen Alpha will mark a new digital age, given how quickly and exponentially technology advances.
Generation Alpha is the generation following Generation Z and currently includes all children born in or after 2010—the same year the iPad was born. The majority of this demographic is under 13 years of age, but the oldest of them will become teens in 2023.
But Gen Zers are different from older generations, because they are the first consumers to have grown up wholly in the digital era. They're tech-savvy and mobile-first—and they have high standards for how they spend their time online.
Gen Alpha will be even more digital-forward
As the second digitally native generation, Gen Alpha will adopt technologies like smartphones and social media even faster than Gen Z.
Generation Alpha is growing up in a world with many challenges, like climate change, political instability and misinformation and disinformation. But experts told us your generation also has a lot of strengths, like access to and understanding of technology.

They're called “digital natives”—the first generation to grow up with the internet as a part of daily life. The generation spans a wide range: the oldest Gen Zers have jobs and mortgages, while the youngest are still preteens.
According to Cigna International Health's 2023 survey of almost 12,000 workers around the world, 91% of 18-to-24-year-olds report being stressed – compared to 84% on average. Research indicates Gen Z are emerging as the most stressed demographic in the workplace, and struggling mightily to cope.
Alpha generation children are born at a time when technological devices are getting smarter, everything is connected, and the physical and the digital are coming together. As they grow up, new technologies will become part of their lives, their experiences, their attitudes and their expectations of the world.
1) GEN ZALPHA ARE A HYBRID GENERATION
Zalpha refers to 9-14-year-olds – a combination of gen z and gen alpha children.
According to research and media, Alpha Generation years are between 2010 and 2025. Therefore, the Gen Alpha age range in 2023 is between 13 years and newborns.
The name Generation Z is a reference to the fact that it is the second generation after Generation X, continuing the alphabetical sequence from Generation Y (Millennials).

Both Gen Z and Gen Alpha overlap somewhat in terms of technological aptitude and mobility, but Gen Alphas do have traits of their own. As a McCrindle blog explained, Gen Alpha individuals are more global, digital, social, mobile and visual compared to the previous ones.
Gen Z and mental health. Regarding the stats, it's clear that Gen Z is struggling. A 2022 survey of Gen Z young adults (ages 19 through 24) found that 42% are diagnosed with a mental health condition.
Members of Generation Z report higher rates of depression and a number of other mental health conditions than do generations before them. At the same time, they are more likely than previous generations to report these problems, positioning those who seek help in a place to receive it.
Gen Z workers, aged between 18 and 26, make up about 35% of those wanting to quit, while millennials (aged 27 to 42) are another 31%. The common reason cited by 44% of the workers considering quitting their jobs is overwork.
In particular, Gen Z trusts influencers more than ever before due to their relatability and unbiased opinions. Influencers often engage with their followers in various ways, from hosting meet-ups to live streaming their daily lives on social media platforms.
Generation Z, aged 10 to 25, comprises one of the largest groups of Passionates – those who report the most intense feelings about a range of global issues, second only to Millennials. In fact, Gen Zers demonstrate more passion for the issues they care about (31.6% vs. 18.9% for the other three generations combined).
They're nostalgic. Gen Z are 19% more likely than other generations to say they prefer to think about the past rather than the future. Their fondness for the past is most prevalent in their music and fashion preferences, with 90s music their second-favorite genre (among Gen Zs).
What Is Generation Alpha? Generation Alpha includes anyone born between 2010 and now, including up to the year 2024. This means that the oldest members of Gen Alpha are 13 years old. This youngest generation is defined by the digital world.
The average life expectancy of baby boomers, Gen X, Millennials, and Gen Z are different. Compared to the 70-year life expectancy of baby boomers and the 85-year life expectancy of Gen X, Gen Z is predicted to have a life expectancy of over 100 years.
