Cordelia Chase's main departure from Angel occurs at the end of Season 4, when she falls into a coma after giving birth to Jasmine, though she makes a significant return in the Season 5 finale for a proper send-off. Actress Charisma Carpenter's real-life pregnancy influenced the Season 4 storyline, leading to a controversial arc where Cordelia was possessed and then written out, with the writers ultimately deciding against bringing her back for Season 5.
Cordelia was written off because David Greenwalt wanted to bring Charisma Carpenter with him to his new show.
Unfortunately, Kate became a symptom of contrived conflict where the writers were addicted to adding forced conflict in order to impede Angel. They tried to ground it in Kate's inability to process the supernatural world and using it as a coping mechanism for the death of her father, but it really didn't work.
Cordelia died in 2004, using her last moments on Earth to aid her friend and love, Angel, and put the disillusioned hero back on his heroic path. After her death, Cordelia became a higher being in the service of the Powers That Be.
In total, Cordelia is the victim of mystical pregnancy three times during the series: from a Haxil beast in this episode, as host of an unborn Skilosh demon in "Epiphany," and from Connor while possessed by Jasmine, as first revealed in "Salvage."
She gets possessed by a demon and gives birth to it, and then goes into a coma becomes like a semi ghost (can be seen and can touch and move things around) and then never wakes up from her coma presumably dies. Cordelia deserved a better fate. She should've just had a normal life with either Angel or somebody else.
The current arc reveals Buffy becoming pregnant after a drunken one-night stand. Throughout the issue, Buffy wrestles with the decision and comes to a conclusion that she's not ready to raise a child.
She died loving Angel, knowing that Angel loved her back. During the Fall of Los Angeles, Cordelia came to a dying Angel to ease him into death. He told her he loved her but could not go with her.
Joss explained he gave Greenwalt final say in this issue. It really is sad to see such a great talent pass on way before their time. Doyle was killed off b/c the actor Glenn Quinn had a drug problem, which was making it difficult for the show.
The idea that Seth Green left for creative reasons is a lie. Green left because he wanted to pursue a film career and Whedon even intended to keep his character around longer.
One critic writes, "Drastic as it was, killing off Joyce was the logical way to bring Buffy and Dawn closer together, sever Buffy's last ties to girlhood and emphasize Buffy's inability to accept the limits of her power, a recurring theme this season."
Angel and Buffy will always love each other deeply, but they realize that love isn't enough to make a relationship between them possible.
Nearly 50 years after they fought crime together on "Charlie's Angels," actresses Jaclyn Smith and Kate Jackson are still the best of friends.
Also, something I thought was interesting in the show: • While Julie Benz was not pregnant during the Season 3 pregnancy storyline (it was just a plot point for the show), the producers of the show did have to change the storyline of the show slightly when Charisma Carpenter was pregnant during filming of Season 4.
So for most of Angel, Cordelia is treated like she's in her late 20's or early 30's...whereas Cordelia was only around 22 when Jasmine took over her body and she died.
Whedon says his "character outgrown the show" so he needed a spinoff. I sort of agree as Buffy being his motivation was a bit crippling for him to get his own character moments. Angelus was the best thing they did with him and returning Angel couldn't compete.
After Angel Investigations took over Wolfram & Hart in 2003, Fred met her end when one of her coworkers, Knox, brought in an ancient sarcophagus which infected her with the essence of the Old One Illyria, and, despite her friends' best efforts, Fred perished and her body was taken over by Illyria itself.
Flynn instructed Doyle to head for Wembley Stadium, the new rendezvous point, and to get rid of the civilians. But by this point, Doyle had abandoned the Code Red objective and focused on getting the others to safety. Doyle burns to death.
Angel Investigations
Eventually, he left to start a singing career in Las Vegas, but left after a crime lord forced him to use his empathic abilities to locate audience members with promising futures so he could steal them.
However, season 4 had Cordelia become possessed for the majority of the year and give birth to a demon after becoming pregnant by Angel's teenage son, Connor.
After the Twilight crisis, Xander moved with Dawn into an apartment in San Francisco and they were officially together a couple.
5 by 5 is old radio operator jargon for receiving your signal fine. It was used in Buffy the Vampire Slayer as slang for good. Used to hear it all the time from engineers at TV stations.
Candice was actually pregnant during filming the 7th season of the series. To deal with the dilemma, the authors decided to include their pregnancy into the series' plot. Caroline became supernaturally pregnant as a consequence of a magical transfer spell and carried Alaric Saltzman and Jo Laughlin's twins in her womb.
Giles was "replaced" on Buffy primarily due to actor Anthony Stewart Head wanting to return to the UK to be with his family, leading to his reduced role in Season 6, though the in-show reason was his feeling of being outdated and his push for Buffy to become more independent. He was briefly fired by the Watchers' Council in Season 3 (replaced by Wesley), but the Season 6 departure was a more permanent shift, making him a less central, but still vital, figure.
2000–2001: Darla, having been resurrected as a dying human, was sired for a second time by Drusilla and the two went on a brief rampage in L.A., before Angel immolated them.
