The personality disorder most strongly associated with a profound lack of self-esteem and feelings of inadequacy is Avoidant Personality Disorder (AVPD), where individuals constantly fear rejection and criticism, leading to social withdrawal, but low self-worth is also a core feature of Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) and Dependent Personality Disorder (DPD).
Lowered self-esteem has been consistently found to occur in several psychiatric disorders. These include major depressive disorder, eating disorders, anxiety disorders, and alcohol and drug abuse.
BPD behaviors include frantic efforts to avoid abandonment, unstable relationships, unstable self-image, impulsivity (spending, sex, substance abuse, reckless driving, binge eating), recurrent self-harm or suicidal threats, intense mood swings (anger, anxiety, depression for hours/days), chronic emptiness, and stress-related paranoia or dissociation. These behaviors stem from deep fears and difficulty regulating emotions, often leading to extreme reactions and unstable life patterns.
If you have schizoid personality disorder, you may be seen as keeping to yourself or rejecting others. You may not be interested in or able to form close friendships or romantic relationships. Because you do not tend to show emotion, it may appear that you do not care about others or what's going on around you.
Delusional disorder is a type of psychotic disorder. Its main symptom is the presence of one or more delusions. A delusion is an unshakable belief in something that's untrue. The belief isn't a part of the person's culture or subculture, and almost everyone else knows this belief to be false.
People with anosognosia usually show that they can't recognize a medical problem they have, either through action or what they say. In some cases, people with this condition will rationalize what's happening to them, or they may try to cover up symptoms. They may recognize some symptoms but not others.
The Three Most Important Signs. Perhaps more striking than specific symptoms associated with certain illnesses are the persistence, rigidity, and globalism of the perplexing behaviors. One or two symptoms of a particular PDO are insufficient to warrant a diagnosis.
Schizoid personality disorder is one of many personality disorders. It can cause individuals to seem distant and emotionless, rarely engaging in social situations or pursuing relationships with other people.
Schizotypal personality disorder (STPD) is a mental health condition marked by a consistent pattern of intense discomfort with close relationships and social interactions. If you have STPD, you may have distorted views of reality, superstitions and unusual behaviors.

BPD splitting involves intense shifts in perceptions and emotions. People may quickly alternate between idealising and devaluing people, situations, and themselves. This can lead to unstable relationships, rapid mood swings, impulsive behaviour, and difficulty tolerating ambiguity.
Why BPD Symptoms Peak in Early Adulthood. In the 20s, identity formation and independence conflict with emotional vulnerability. Research shows impulsivity and mood swings occur most frequently between the ages of 18-25.

There are so many similarities between Schizotypal Personality Disorder and ASD that many people have questioned whether SPD is genetic autism. This isn't the case, though many research studies have found definitive links between the two disorders.
Some common warning signs include intense and rapidly changing emotions, often triggered by seemingly minor events. Individuals with BPD may exhibit impulsive behaviors such as substance abuse, binge eating, or reckless driving.

BPD is also confused with other disorders, such as attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), and other personality disorders. BPD can also share symptoms with these conditions or be comorbid with them. In particular, addictions and eating disorders co-occur with BPD.
Personality disorders, including schizoid personality disorder, are among the least understood mental health conditions. Researchers are still trying to figure out the exact cause of them.
