The soul or atman, credited with the ability to enliven the body, was located by ancient anatomists and philosophers in the lungs or heart, in the pineal gland (Descartes), and generally in the brain.
-- In living composites the soul is the substantial form of the body; that is, the soul is so united to the body that through it the body receives and possesses subsistence and life, and that from the union of these two principles there results a single substance.
Descartes' reasoning came from his observation that every structure of the brain is paired except for the pineal gland. He felt that the pineal gland must be the meeting point of the physical body and the mind, and therefore, the pineal gland must be the location of the soul.
Death is separation of the soul from the physical body. Death becomes the starting point of a new and better life.
According to Plato, the three parts of the soul are the rational, spirited and appetitive parts. The rational part corresponds to the guardians in that it performs the executive function in a soul just as it does in a city.
But the soul was brought into being (producta in esse) through creation, whereas the body was made at the end of the work of adornment. Therefore, the soul of man was produced before the body.
Heaven and Hell
Some believe in the possibility of a heaven on Earth in a world to come. In Hinduism, heaven is considered as Svarga loka. There are seven positive regions the soul can go to after death and seven negative regions.
From a Christian perspective, people who have been cremated can certainly go to Heaven. First, the soul never dies, and when one accepts Christ as their personal savior it is the soul that receives eternal salvation and not the earthly body.
Your soul speaks of your inner-life in relation to your own experience: your mind, heart, will, and imagination. It also includes your thoughts, desires, passions, and dreams. But your spirit speaks of the same inner-life in relation to God: your faith, hope, love, character, and perseverance.
In many religious and philosophical traditions, the soul is the spiritual essence of a person, which includes one's identity, personality, and memories, an immaterial aspect or essence of a living being that is believed to be able to survive physical death.
While these physical factors are undoubtedly important, the mind, body, and soul are intricately connected on a deep physiological level. The mind-body-soul connection refers to how your thoughts and feelings affect your physical well-being, and how your physical well-being impacts your thought processes.
SOUL is the intertwining of the mind and the heart. The soul is the complex of all our knowing and believing. The soul is the complete activity of the inner person. The soul is the representation of who we are on the inside, the summation of our thoughts (mind) and feelings (heart).
You'll feel inexplicably connected to someone.
Dr. Manly explains it as you'll feel a metaphorical cord is always pulling you toward that person. You may feel like this person completes you, and your feelings are stronger towards them than other people you've met in your life.
The body does not feel pain during cremation because the person is no longer alive. When a person dies, their brain stops sending signals to the body. This means that the person cannot feel pain or any other sensation.
How long after you die are you cremated? In most cases, you will have to wait somewhere between 24 and 72 hours after death before a body can be cremated. Certain paperwork is required and may take several business days to obtain.
They Know They're Dying
Dying is a natural process that the body has to work at. Just as a woman in labor knows a baby is coming, a dying person may instinctively know death is near. Even if your loved one doesn't discuss their death, they most likely know it is coming.
Decomposition begins several minutes after death with a process called autolysis, or self-digestion. Soon after the heart stops beating, cells become deprived of oxygen, and their acidity increases as the toxic by-products of chemical reactions begin to accumulate inside them.
Plato proposed to define death as the separation of soul from body. This definition is not acceptable to materialists, who think that there are no souls. It is also unacceptable to anyone who thinks that plants and lower animals have no souls, but can die. Others have defined death simply as the cessation of life.
Soul dualism, also called dualistic pluralism or multiple souls, is a range of beliefs that a person has two or more kinds of souls. In many cases, one of the souls is associated with body functions ("body soul") and the other one can leave the body ("free soul" or "wandering soul").
The Souls go through the five stages of being an Infant Soul, a Child Soul, a Young Soul, A Mature Soul, and Old Soul, until they realize their Buddhahood, Krishnahood or Christ Consciousness. All the five Soul Cycles need to be passed through — there is no skipping or jumping through any Cycle of the Soul.
