Xanax (alprazolam) is FDA-approved to treat anxiety disorders and panic disorder. It is a fast-acting benzodiazepine that works as a central nervous system depressant to produce a calming effect.
Alprazolam, known by various trade names, is the most commonly prescribed psychotropic medication in the United States. Alprazolam is frequently prescribed to manage panic and anxiety disorders.
