Also sometimes called a "wolf cat" or "werewolf cat," the Lykoi is certainly one of the most visually unique cat breeds in the world. Despite their feral appearance, they are friendly, affectionate, playful cats who get along with humans and other animals.
However, Lykoi cats are very rare to find in shelters. They are a newer cat breed bred under strict conditions to produce their unique semi-hairless look. If you go the kitten mill route, you can expect to pay anywhere from $1,000 to $1,500.
A wolf-cat (or a werewolf cat) suffers from a rare genetic mutation that causes them to sometimes shed most of their hair, up to the point where they almost look like a werewolf. The cats are also sometimes called Lykoi, which means 'wolves' in Greek.
Lykoi cats have wonderful playful temperaments. Inquisitive and intelligent by nature they are keen hunters and even known to play fetch. They are found of company and bond well with their owns, although they may be wary of new people and pets until they get to know them.

Lykoi cats can change their color when exposed to sunlight or heat – a rather unusual trait for a mammal and more so for a cat. Their skin is usually pink, but it turns dark when the cat is exposed to sunlight.
They are prone to hypothermia (low body temperature) and sunburns. The pink skin of a Lykoi cat can darken after too much time in the sun, and they can burn, so if they must go out, a cat-safe sunscreen is recommended.
