The 'waterfall effect' is a descriptive term to indicate a sliding ptosis of parenchymal breast tissue over a fixed or encapsulated implant. It occurs more frequently than surgeons anticipate and especially over the longer term after augmentation.

Rippling is one of the more common side effects of breast augmentation. Breast implants are malleable so that they look and feel more natural in the breasts. However, this malleability means that they can also ripple. Visible rippling is less common than rippling that you can feel but not see.
The Solution To Rippling Is Revision

SIGNS OF CAPSULAR CONTRACTURE
As the hardening intensifies, the breast may look misshapen and even painful. The breast can also appear very round, and shift higher up the chest while visible rippling appears.
This capsule, made of primarily of collagen, can contain some scar tissue which, over time, may harden and squeeze the implant. This condition, known as capsular contracture, can produce discomfort and can alter the appearance of your breasts.
