Candidates achieving Grade B or Grade C (between 140 and 159 on the Cambridge English Scale) receive a certificate at Level B1.
Passing the B1 writing exam is not an easy task. You need advanced preparations to successfully complete this English test. Languages are the most complex subjects. You need lots of patience and practice to learn a new language.
What is the B1 Preliminary test like? The test has these sections: Reading six parts - 32 questions - 45 minutes. Writing two parts - 45 minutes.
Your B1 test result and certificate
Your provisional result will be emailed to you by 9am (the day after your test). You will be emailed your final result within four to seven days after your test, once we have confirmed and approved your result.
If you take intensive classes (around 20 hours per week), you can reach the B1 level of day-to-day fluency. Fluency takes more than 3 months, but you can still learn in less time if you adjust your strategy.
The B1 English test, also known as the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) Level B1 test, does not have an expiration date.
Level B1 corresponds to independent users of the language, i.e. those who have the necessary fluency to communicate without effort with native speakers.
English level B1 is the third level of English in the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR), a definition of different language levels written by the Council of Europe. In everyday speech, this level would be called “intermediate”, and indeed, that is the official level descriptor in the CEFR.
Minimum score to pass the B1 Preliminary (PET)
The minimum score to pass Cambridge B1 Preliminary (PET) is 140 points (70%).
The IELTS Life Skills B1 test is for applicants who want to apply for Indefinite Leave to Remain and/or British citizenship. It is on the list of Home Office approved Secure English language tests. The IELTS Life Skills B1 test costs £150.

When you reach B1, you should have a working vocabulary of about 2500 words, and you can recall about half of them with some speed. It takes approximately 350-400 hours with the language to pass the B1 Cambridge examination.
They are also more aware of what they need to work on next to progress. However, in general, b1 is considered to be more difficult than b2. The person has reached a point in his or her career where he or she can engage in a wide range of activities both at work and away from it.
As of the date of writing (August 2021), the pass marks required are as follows: IELTS SELT Consortium Life Skills B1 (Speaking & Listening): Pass. Language Cert International ESOL SELT B1 (Speaking & Listening): 60/100.
B1 English (Intermediate)
Level B1 corresponds to users who can understand and produce text on familiar topics and give opinions and descriptions.
The Speaking test lasts about 10 to 12 minutes. You will take the test with another student. There are two examiners.
