In Islam, Zina (or Zināʾ) refers to any unlawful sexual intercourse, including adultery and fornication, outside the bounds of a valid marriage, considered a grave sin. It also encompasses actions leading up to intercourse, like lustful looking, touching, or kissing, known as "minor Zina," which are also prohibited and sinful pathways to the greater act. The Quran strictly forbids approaching such acts, viewing them as shameful and evil.
In the Hadiths, the definitions of zina have been described as all the forms of sexual intercourse, penetrative or non-penetrative, outside of marriage. However, sex between a man and his female slave was not defined as extramarital sex; a man having the right to sexual intercourse with his own female slave.
As a result, any deeds that you undertook with this woman after getting engaged to her and before getting married to her are considered as minor Zina (fornication or adultery) acts. We ask Allah to forgive us and you. As regards your marriage, it is valid and you do not have to conduct the marriage contract again.
The Zina of the ears is listening (to voluptuous songs or talk). The Zina of the hand is the (lustful) grip. The Zina of the feet is walking (to the place where a person intends to commit Zina). The heart yearns and desires, and the private parts approve or disapprove it.”
Zina specifically refers to sexual intercourse. Kissing, touching, or other intimate behaviors outside of marriage are prohibited and are pathways to Zina, but are not considered Zina.
Engaging in any form of physical intimacy before marriage, including hugging, is seen as a precursor to Zina, which is why Islam strictly prohibits such acts.
Major sins: Al-Kaba'ir
Islam provides clear guidelines prohibiting acts such as anal intercourse, sexual relations during specific periods, intimacy during holy times, and engaging in sexual activities publicly.
