People are intentionally selecting sober, alcohol-free dates as more single Indians reexamine their relationship with alcohol.
Well, for most people in recovery from drug and alcohol addiction, the same thing applies for their sober date (aka sobriety date, recovery birthday, sobriety anniversary, etc.). It's the day you stopped using and/or drinking.
A sober-minded search for connection.
Consider starting off the new year with a new healthy dating habit: “dry dating,” the act of ditching drinking on dates and being sober-minded. Dating app Bumble has even reported it as a new trend for 2022.
Play Chess. If you're looking for a fun, alcohol-free way to spend date night, take a hard pass on Monopoly (snoozefest) and opt for chess instead. This two-player game can span an entire evening if you take your time on every move, so there will be ample opportunity for conversation.
Being in control of yourself is way more appealing than being inebriated on a first date, but learning how to date while sober is a challenge of its own. It can be extremely nerve-wracking to show up and meet someone new without the crutch of substances to open you up or calm you down.

As a phrase, “dry texting” is relatively recent in the grand scheme of things. It refers to people who reply with one word, or don't carry the conversation and just say things like “lmao” and “wyd” until the receiver wants to tear their hair out in frustration or boredom.
