Setting an air fryer to 200°C (392°F) is a hot setting, great for quick crisping, but it cooks faster than a conventional oven, so you often reduce the temperature slightly (to around 190°C) or significantly cut the cooking time, watching closely to prevent burning, as its powerful airflow cooks food much more intensely than a regular oven.
If your oven recipe calls for 200°C, set your air fryer to 175°C for a similar result.
Cooking time adjustment: On average, the cooking time will be reduced by about 20 % when using an air fryer instead of an oven. This is a direct result of the intense hot air circulation. So, if you cook something at 175°C in an oven for 30 minutes, you only need about 24 minutes in the air fryer set to 165°C.
Temperature settings for air fryers
When converting recipes, a good rule of thumb is: For recipes calling for 180°C in a conventional oven, use 170°C in an air fryer. For recipes calling for 200°C in a conventional oven, use 190°C in an air fryer.
200°C (degree Celsius) is 392°F (degree Fahrenheit). The Fahrenheit scale is a temperature scale used in the customary system, which sets the freezing point of water at 32°F and the boiling point at 212°F.
So, for your 180°C (356°F) for 15 minutes oven recipe, try 160°C (320°F) for 10-12 minutes in the air fryer, checking for doneness halfway through.
TIP: To convert an oven-cooked recipe to an air-fryer one, a general rule of thumb is to reduce the suggested temperature by 25°F and then cut the cook time by about 20%.
For all dial settings tested (160°C, 180°C and 200°C), the pre-heat time was determined to range from approximately 5 minutes to 20 minutes, with Air fryer 8 taking the longest time (see figure 1).
You can cook as many slices can fit in one layer, but make sure they're not overcrowded. How long do chicken breasts take to cook in an air fryer? If you slice them in two, they will cook in about 10-15 minutes at 200℃.
Common Air Fryer Mistakes
Cooking Fresh Food in an Air Fryer
For example, if the oven instruction calls for cooking at 180°C for 25 minutes, set your air fryer to 160°C for 20 minutes. This adjustment helps ensure your food is perfectly cooked in the air fryer.
To bake in an air fryer, reduce the temperature of your recipe by 25°F and reduce the cook time by 20%. For example, cookies baked at 375°F for 10 minutes would be baked in an air fryer at 350°F for 8 minutes. 425°F in an oven would be 400°F in an air fryer, and so on.
True Air frying at 200c/400f replicates the immersion of any raw food into high temperature oil for varied lengths of time and pulling the food out before it is over cooked.
200°C (degree Celsius) is 392°F (degree Fahrenheit).
The number 200 in words is written as two hundred. It is a three-digit number and is often written this way for exams, cheques, and everyday use.
For example, a cool oven has temperature set to 200 °F (93 °C), and a slow oven has a temperature range from 300–325 °F (149–163 °C). A moderate oven has a range of 350–375 °F (177–191 °C), and a hot oven has temperature set to 400–450 °F (204–232 °C).
