DO NOT leave the urn switched on overnight if it is not in use. It wastes energy and the urn could boil dry, which can damage the element. DO NOT operate the urn without the lid securely fastened. If the urn boils dry, it is equipped with a cut-off switch.
Refill with cold water and switch the urn back on again. The urn will automatically reboil. After the urn has boiled, the KEEP HOT feature maintains the water at a suitable temperature for hot beverages. After about 3 hours or so the urn will automatically reboil itself.
For the best results you should fill the urn up with cold-room temperature water. From this point, it will take roughly 20 minutes to heat up.
Most urns are fitted with a boil-dry/overheating protection switch, that will cut out if the urn boils dry or overheats. However, these can fail and should not be relied on. An urn that boils dry is a significant fire hazard.
The inside of the urn is all stainless steel. The thermostat models give the user a range of about 60c - 100C (constantly boiling).

This varies on the design, most of our water urns will dissolve completely, once submerged, within a few hours. Our Salt Urns take considerably longer, but the natural breakdown of the urn will occur under the water.
Before we begin, some people ask, “is it illegal to open an urn?” We can assure you that it is perfectly legal to open an urn. Cremated remains are considered sterile.
Answer: There are several legitimate reasons to respectfully open the urn. These include opening the temporary urn to transfer the ashes into a permanent urn, scattering the ashes, dividing among family members, or using a small amount of remains into a keepsake such as a cremation necklace.
There is no odor emitted from ashes that have been properly cremated. Even over time, you shouldn't expect any particular smells to develop. If anything, certain cremation containers will simply emit a slight incense-like smell.
It costs less to keep a water boiler hot than it does to constantly refill and boil a kettle. This is because your kettle uses a large amount of energy for a short amount of time, whereas a hot water boiler uses a smaller amount of electricity for a larger amount of time.
The Urn is fitted with a safety device which protects against overheating should the Urn be operated with insufficient water or has boiled dry. If this occurs, the Urn will stop heating. Both the red and orange lights will turn off. Switch off at the power outlet and allow the Urn to cool down completely.
More energy efficient
Imagine multiple people boiling the kettle all day long! A digital catering urn is much more energy efficient because it keeps the water at roughly the same temperature all day.
While finding DNA preserved in cremation ashes is possible, it's unlikely. Some companies offer services to see if a cremation ash sample would potentially hold DNA. Work with a cremation company with specific labeling protocols that they are willing and able to describe to you.
During the process of cremation, the body's remaining energy is converted into heat energy, which is then distributed into the atmosphere. What little energy remains in the ashes is, again, “rest” or dormant energy.
Cremation ashes are similar to sand, gravel, or rock fragments in that they aren't really altered much with age and can't really 'go bad' in the traditional sense.
