Elves who went to the Halls were, after a period of time, typically given the opportunity to be reincarnated into a body identical to the one that died.
Elves are immortal but can be killed in battle, in which case they go to the Halls of Mandos in Aman. They may be restored by the Will of the Valar, and then go to live with the Valar in Valinor, like an Earthly Paradise, though just being in the place does not confer immortality, as Men supposed.

According to the official "Elf on the Shelf" website, "Christmas magic is very fragile, and if scout elves are touched they may lose their magic." It doesn't specify that this only applies to kids, so we're guessing this applies to any humans.
It included Eldamar, the land of the Elves, who as immortals were permitted to live in Valinor. Aman was known somewhat misleadingly as "the Undying Lands", but the land itself does not cause mortals to live forever. However, only immortal beings were generally allowed to reside there.
Though the Undying Lands can be viewed as heaven, going there doesn't mean death. It is a paradise, yes, but it is not necessarily the end. As far as we know, those elves go on to lead beautiful immortal lives in the Undying Lands.
The reasons for the Elves inviting him are clear given his destruction of the One Ring and Sauron, but Frodo's reasons for accepting are less so. Ultimately, it was the injuries that the ring-bearer Frodo endured on his journey that pushed him to leave Middle-earth.
Nonetheless, Elves can be physically slain or die of grief and weariness. Death was unnatural for Elves; Ilúvatar intended for an Elf's spirit (fëa) and body (hröa) to remain united throughout the entire life of Arda, but this design was disrupted by evils of Melkor.
If your elf didn't move, they may be trying to communicate an important message to you! If your elf is accidentally touched, they may have just enough energy to get to the North Pole but not enough magic to create a whole new scene in your home.
One MassLive staffer parent suggested picking up a fallen elf with oven mitts, to help minimize bumps and bruises. There's a YouTube video that shows an elf resting comfortably with its head on a soft pillow of Kleenex and staying warm inside a potholder.
If little ones find their Scout Elf sitting on something they need to use, like relaxing in their sink, lying on their bookbag or hanging on their clothes, then it is okay for parents to move the elf, so kids can complete their morning routine and elves can get back to their important job!

Elf mothers are with child for 1 year. Once born, elves' minds and bodies initially grow rapidly, advancing past the infant and toddler stage within the first year. Development then slows down and an elf is mentally in adolescence for roughly the next 49 years.
Elves, High Elves in particular, are said to be able to live for around 1000 years. Humans live to be around 100 at most. So we can assume that Humans age roughly ten times quicker than Elves do. So obviously, elves age much more slowly than humans do.
