The tiger lily can grow up to 3 inches across and has a strong, sweet scent. It is also called "trench lily," because it can be seen growing wild, in the ditch.

One of the “softest”, most delicate White Florals, lily has subtle nuances, smelling at once waxy, slightly green-tinged, and spicy. It also often carries an earthy-honeyed aspect, which to me evokes the pollen stems these flowers have in nature.
Orange (tiger) lilies symbolize confidence, pride, and wealth.
Hyacinths. Purple or blue hyacinths signify constancy, regret and sincerity. This makes them great apology flowers for letting that special someone know that you are truly sorry and that you're still hoping to be a constant in their life.
The tiger lily represents confidence and not arrogance or vanity, and this is why the flower was often associated with nobility in times past. In Buddhism, tiger lilies are symbolic of the virtues of mercy and compassion.
Oriental lilies
Of all the types of lilies, Oriental lilies are among the most fragrant. The heady perfume produced by the flowers is particularly strong in the evening. Oriental lilies have broader leaves than some other varieties of lilies, and the foliage and flowers are deer and rabbit resistant.
Gardenia. Gardenia is one of the most fragrant flowers, producing one of the most beloved scents in the garden world. Fall or spring is the best time to plant this shrub in warmer climates. It also makes a fragrant houseplant, though it can be fussy about indoor humidity.
If you are looking for a pleasantly fragrant Lily in the house, you may want to try Lilium longiflorum or lilium japonicum Alexandrae. The delicate fragrance of Lilium neigherrense or the restrained scent of Lilium speciosum make them great candidates for the vase.
Dangerous lilies: Tiger lilies, day lilies, Asiatic hybrid, Easter lilies, Japanese show lilies, rubrum lilies, stargazer lilies, red lilies, western lilies and wood lilies. These are all highly toxic and even ingesting a few petals/leaves or pollen/vase water can cause rapid kidney failure in cats.

Lilies, for the most part, are unfussy bulbs. When in flower they fill the summer air with the sweet scent of jasmine and add a stunning dash of colour to the garden. Most lilies currently grown in cultivation are hardy plants, and there is no need to lift and store them over winter.
While it's an Asian species, a tiger lily is not rare to see in the United States. You can plant tiger lily bulbs in the fall or spring and expect blooms in the summertime. The plants have strappy leaves and long flowering stems.
They can tolerate partial shade for a few hours each day, but the day lily produces fewer flowers when shaded and a tiger lily planted in partial shade leans its tall stem toward the sun and might also have fewer flowers. Both plants thrive in any type of garden soil that's well-draining, fertile and organically rich.
