White : Signifies innocence. No previous knowledge of Taekwon-Do, as that of a beginner student. This belt normally comes with the
White Belt: Innocence and purity. A student views the study of tae kwon do as child, whether young or old. Yellow Belt: This belt color symbolizes the sunrise and the dawning of knowledge. Mental and physical changes begin. Orange Belt: The day, this belt shows that the student is taking in knowledge.
In Taekwondo, belt colors indicate the level of training (rank). The belt system acts as an incentive for the student to advance to the next level of training. Belt requirements vary between Taekwondo, Karate, Jiu Jitsu, and other forms of martial arts. Standards also vary from school to school.
Yellow Belt - The first full color, this belt means that the student is beginning to learn and create a foundation in taekwondo. The color yellow represents the ground or earth in which the seed of knowledge has been planted and will grow.
You do not have to earn a white belt in Taekwondo. You “earn” your Taekwondo white belt by taking the first step and starting classes in Taekwondo. A white belt in Taekwondo is awarded at the very beginning of your training and typically comes with the Taekwondo gi.

Tae Kwon Do (3-5 Years)
A student can earn a black belt in Tae Kwon Do faster than in any other form of the martial arts. Black belts in Tae Kwon Do are achieved in degrees, with the practitioner able to earn the first-degree black belt within three to five years.
The small colored bands across the end of the belt indicate the levels within each color. Students have to pass practical and theory tests to progress to the next rank. A serious student can reach black belt in two or three years. To advance from one rank to another, students will need to qualify for promotion testing.
The three most common taekwondo forms are four-direction punch, four-direction block, and four-direction thrust.
In many traditional TaeKwon-Do organizations instructors holding 1st to 3rd dan are called Boosabum (Assistant Instructor), those holding 4th to 6th Dan are called Sabum (Instructor), those holding 7th to 8th dan are called Sahyun (Master), and those holding 9th dan are called Saseong (Grandmaster).

Children all develop at different rates and for some, 4 years old is old enough while others are ready to start at 8. Many of the greatest names in Taekwondo did not begin their training until their early teens, so becoming the best is less about age and more about motivation once training begins.
What is a Taekwondo student called? A Taekwondo student is called Hak Saeng or Jeja (depending on the Taekwondo system). Moreover, a senior student is often called Sonbaenim and a Taekwondo instructor (master) is a Sabomnim.
In most traditional martial arts, the timeframe for someone to achieve their first black belt is around five years. In other arts, like Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, it takes much longer–the average time to black belt is around ten years.
Do I need to complete the Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt course before the Green Belt course? No. The Yellow Belt course is not a pre-requisite for the Green Belt course. It is intended to provide front-line staff, shop floor operators, etc.
