In the Bible, "beyond the veil" refers to the unseen spiritual realm, God's presence, and the afterlife, originating from the heavy veil in the Jerusalem Temple that separated humans from the Holy of Holies (God's dwelling). After Jesus' crucifixion, the veil tore, symbolizing that believers now have direct access to God through Christ, allowing them to live spiritually "beyond the veil" by faith, seeing eternal realities rather than just temporary, physical things.
Word of the Day — Veil
The phrase “beyond the veil” refers to the unknown, the afterlife or unseen spiritual realms.
Hebrews 10:19-20 says, 'We have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus by a new and living way opened for us through the curtain, that is, his body. 'The veil being torn from top to bottom is a fact of history.
Joshua 24:14–15 Reminds Us to Serve God
And then for us to pray that God would save us from idols in our country. We must decide if we will serve God or ourselves. Let's do that. God, we start this prayer by saying you alone are God.
Veil Meaning in the Bible
In the Hebrew Scriptures, we see two primary illustrations of veils: Moses' veil and the tabernacle veil. In the New Testament, along with the temple veil, is the concept of a spiritual veil of blindness or unbelief, a hindrance to perceiving truth.
The veil is a visual sermon, it's a visual statement, it's a public proclamation before the Lord that He IS the Lord and that we love Him and that we are ready to obey him.
How to remove spiritual veils. The best way to fight spiritual blindness is to know the Word of God. Christ successfully defeated the devil's clever arguments by correctly quoting the Bible: “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God” (Matthew 4:4).
The holy things and the pearls represent the things of God, perhaps the gospel itself. The dogs and pigs represent hostile, unworthy people. And so the statement translates into something like this: Do not preach the things of God to hostile, unworthy people.
Application in Modern Context
In our fast-paced and often chaotic world, Joshua 24:14-15 invites us to pause and reflect on our own spiritual journey. It prompts us to evaluate our priorities and recommit ourselves to serving God with sincerity and passion.
In Joshua 23–24, Joshua warned Israel to not compromise with the nations but to serve the Lord wholeheartedly. After Israel dealt with the sin of Achan (Josh. 7), they were able to continue with God's blessing of their conquest of the Promised Land.
What's it about? When the Veil protecting humans from Fae shatters after 400 years, a fae-marked gardener flees to survive. Rescued by Caelum from the Wild Hunt, they develop a passionate alliance while evading capture.
“Whenever, though, they turn to face God as Moses did, God removes the veil and there they are – face-to-face! They suddenly recognize that God is a living, personal presence, not a piece of chiseled stone.
2 Timothy 2:13 means that even if believers falter or become unfaithful in their own faith, God's character remains steadfast and true, as He cannot deny Himself or His promises, offering a profound assurance of His constant nature and commitment to His people despite human weakness. It's a powerful reminder that God's faithfulness underpins our hope, even when our performance fails, contrasting with the previous verse's warning that denying Christ leads to being denied.
in the unknown state of being after death; the phrase is originally a figurative reference to the veil which in the Jewish Temple separated the main body of the Temple from the tabernacle, and derives particularly from Tyndale's translation of the Bible.... ...
In harmony with the plan of these articles, the reader will want to see this wonder word "veil" in the Hebrew in which it was first written. It is paroketh. Its root is defined to mean separation; that is, standing between the sinner and God.
The story of Mary and Martha (Luke 10:38-42) teaches that while serving God is good, prioritizing presence with Jesus over frantic service is essential, as Mary chose the "better part" by listening at His feet, showing the importance of spiritual focus over distraction, anxiety, and the desire for perfect hospitality. It highlights that genuine devotion involves choosing intimacy with Christ (like Mary) even when tasks (like Martha's) call, and that our heart attitude in service matters more than the perfection of the service itself, reminding us to seek God's presence rather than becoming troubled or self-righteous.
Joshua 24:15 reads: 15 “But if serving the LORD seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve.” This is a life altering decision. Joshua is asking them to leave behind their foreign gods and serve God with their whole heart.
(3) God tells Joshua in Joshua 1:6-9 that he is the one who must be strong and courageous, he is the one who must not turn from God's law, and that if he follows God's plans well that his way will be successful and prosperous.
So, where was Jesus for the three days in between His death and resurrection? For a time, He was in Hades, preaching to the spirits in prison (whoever they were). Then, He released all of the righteous dead of Sheol/Hades and took them with Him to heaven. But, again, there is controversy on virtually every point.
The Church does not teach definitively whether or not there will be animals in Heaven, or in the new earth after the Resurrection of the dead. The Scriptures do describe animals at peace in the new creation (see, for instance, Isaiah 11:6-9; 65:25), but that may be symbolic.
So this verse is saying : "Do not give dogs what is holy, and do not throw your pearls before pigs, lest they trample them underfoot and turn to attack you." Matthew 7:6. This is basically saying that we shouldn't give sacred things to "dogs" (people whom is hostile/arrogant to the gospel).
