PG-13: Parents Strongly Cautioned, Some Material May Be Inappropriate for Children Under 13.
According to the Motion Picture Association, the PG-13 label means the movie is fine for kids over the age of thirteen. It may not, however, be appropriate for children under thirteen because of language, violence, nudity, and other mature content. But some parents say many PG-13 movies make them uncomfortable.
Anyone can go see a PG-13 movie. For R if you're under 17 you must be with an adult, PG-13 has no restrictions. You must be with an adult if you're under 13 and want to see a PG-13.
Rated PG: Parental guidance suggested – Some material may not be suitable for children. Rated PG-13: Parents strongly cautioned – Some material may be inappropriate for children under 13. Rated R: Restricted – Under 17 requires accompanying parent or adult guardian. Rated X: No one under 17 admitted.
Rated PG-13 for violence, including bloody aftermath of a shooting. Rated R for language and strong bloody violence. Rated R for strong graphic horror, violence and gore, and for language. Age-based ratings are on the front of video game packages, in ads and on websites.
Parents are urged to be cautious. Some material may be inappropriate for pre-teenagers. While The Motion Picture Association of America recommends that children under 13 do not see PG-13 movies, there is no magical age.
Generally reserved for R-rated projects, PG-13 movies are allowed a single use of the four-letter word. A few projects like The Social Network and The American President have even gotten away with two or three and still retained their PG-13 rating.
Children under 17 must be accompanied by a parent or adult guardian over the age of 21 for R-rated movies. I.D. is required for proof of age. Children under 6 years of age are not permitted into R-rated features at all.
General viewing, but some scenes may be unsuitable for young children. A PG film should not unsettle a child aged around eight or older. Unaccompanied children of any age may watch, but parents are advised to consider whether the content may upset younger, or more sensitive, children.
Most theaters do not ID or check for PG-13 films and so any person can watch. PG -13 means parents may find objectionable material, may not be appropriate for persons under 13. This is different than R which means not appropriate for persons under 17 unless accompanied by a parent/guardian.
The Motion Picture Association of America graded the Barbie movie with a PG-13 rating for “brief language” and “suggestive references.” That cautionary disclaimer is not surprising and likely appreciated by parents.
“Thirteen” is a cautionary tale, one that ultimately shows the perils of going “bad,” but the film is rated R for a reason. “Thirteen” contains profanity, shoplifting, drug and alcohol use, sexual situations, masochistic scenes of a young girl cutting herself and some nudity.
Yes. Unless your kids are particularly immature for their age, 11 is plenty old enough to watch PG-13 movies. The rating system overestimates the age range for movies because they want to avoid complaints. Most kids can watch PG-13 movies around 9 or 10.
Films rated PG13 is an advisory rating for parents to note there are scenes or themes unsuitable for younger children. However, there's no age restriction; so the parent can choose to allow or bring the child for the movie.
Children under 12 cannot attend a screening unaccompanied after 7pm (regardless of film certification).
PG-13 = It is not recommended to take children under 6 years to watch PG-13. In addition to that, children 6–12 years should watch PG-13 only with parental guidance. R = It is not recommended to take children under 13 years to watch R.

We always follow national rules about film ratings, and if you're lucky enough to be looking younger than the film's rating, we'll have to ask to see some ID. Another reason you could be asked for ID is to make sure you're getting the right ticket for your film.
Parental Guidance (PG)
The impact of PG (Parental Guidance) classified films and computer games should be no higher than mild, but they may contain content that children find confusing or upsetting and may require the guidance of parents, teachers or guardians.
Parents who are concerned with violence and gore should absolutely skip this movie with their kids. There's really no wiggle room here as the bullet count – and body count- limit does not exist. Since the main characters are assassins, death and violence are who they are and the action scenes are out of control.
G: General Audiences, All Ages Admitted.
Contains nothing in theme, language, nudity, sex, violence or other matters that the in-view of the Rating Board would offend parents whose younger children view the motion picture.
Obviously, it's rated R and is another slasher movie, but the gore level, language and particularly, the sex can vary from film to film. So, this parents guide may seem like a no-brainer to many of you, but there are some nuances to each film and I'm here to let you know what to expect.
Because of its violence and scary scenes, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever isn't suitable for children under 12 years, and we recommend parental guidance for children aged 12-14 years.
But the kids in It deal with some pretty adult situations, and it might not be best to bring kids under 5 to see those things, especially on the big screen. The movie It has an R rating, which would suggest that it's best for the theater to be filled with adults, not kids, for this particular film.
AMC Requires Adult Supervision For Guests Under 17 in R-Rated Movies. AMC policies specific to R-Rated titles include children under 6 are not allowed at R-Rated movies after 6pm at any theatre. Guests under 17 must be accompanied by a guardian who is 21 or older.
