P Pass No grade point credit. Applies only to nondevelopmental studies courses. Pass grades carry academic credit but are not included within GPA calculations.
P indicates Pass (A-, B and C will automatically be replaced by "P" when the Pass/No Pass option has been requested. A+ and A will be recorded as "A+" and "A", not "P"). NP indicates No Pass (D+, D, D-, and F will automatically be replaced by "NP" when the Pass/No Pass option has been requested).
The following definitions will be used as a guide for the assignment of Graduate grades. H– High Pass. P– Pass. L– Low Pass. F– Fail.
Common Grade Policy
Grades of “P” indicate “Pass” and earned credit, but have no point value. “P” grades are not considered equivalent to a “B” or a “C” or any other grade when used for requirements. It is up to each department or division to make and hold to such determinations.
If you are pursuing an undergraduate, master's or doctoral degree at an Australian university, you will be assessed according to the higher education grading scheme, which includes the following terminology. P – Pass. A pass is awarded to students who receive between 50% and 64%.
The grades of A, B, C, D and P are passing grades. Grades of F and U are failing grades.
Grades A–F in the United States
In primary and secondary schools, a D is usually the lowest passing grade. However, there are some schools that consider a C the lowest passing grade, so the general standard is that anything below a 60% or 70% is failing, depending on the grading scale.
P = the student has partially met the grade level standard(s) D = the student did not meet the grade level standard(s)
P2: equivalent to a GCSE grade 4. D1: equivalent to a GCSE grade 3. M1: equivalent to a GCSE grade 2. P1: equivalent to a GCSE grade 1.75.
To calculate the GPA, the unit value for each course in which a student receives one of the above grades is multiplied by the number of grade points for that grade. The sum of these products is then divided by the sum of the units. The cumulative GPA is the sum of the grade points divided by the sum of the units.
Satisfactory grade means a “C” in undergraduate studies, a “B” in graduate studies or a professional degree program, or “Pass” for courses designated as pass or fail. A grade of “I” or “incomplete” shall not be a satisfactory grade. Sample 1.

The letter Z is used to indicate that a grade was not properly received and/or recorded for a course. Note: No grade points are allowed for grades F, I, NP, P, PR, NPR, W, or Z. A complete record of all previously used grades and grading systems is detailed on the official transcript. Grade.
An “F” (failure) grade indicates the student's failure to complete satisfactorily the work of the course. No grade of “F” may be counted toward a graduate degree or certificate. If the course in which the “F” is received is not required for graduation, it need not be repeated.
A 3.0 GPA is equivalent to 83-86% or a B grade. The national average GPA is 3.0 which means you are right on target. With a bit of work you can improve your GPA and stand out from the crowd.
A P1 grade (or a Pass at Level 1) is the lowest of the set of grades which you can achieve. It means a Pass at Level 1.
The grading system consists of Honors (H), High Pass (HP), Pass (P), and Fail (F).
At most schools, a D is the lowest passing grade. That means students who earn a D or higher receive credit for the course. However, some schools set special policies around D grades. For example, at Lehigh, a D counts as a passing grade but does not meet prerequisite requirements.
Is a D Considered Passing? A letter grade of a D is technically considered passing because it not a failure. A D is any percentage between 60-69%, whereas a failure occurs below 60%.
Non-credit. " N" grades do not count toward a. student's degree, grade point average or academic progress for purposes of financial aid eligibility.
Use of Plus/Minus Grading
The letter grades A, B, C, and D have the suffix plus (+) or minus (-) included to distinguish higher and lower performances within each of these letter grades. The letter grade F does not include the plus/minus distinction.
Definition. A grade of B is considered "good" and counts as 3 grade points per credit on a 4.0 grading scale.
