Breeding rabbits
The female rabbit (doe) does not come into heat (oestrus) as do other animals. The doe will accept the male (buck) at any time of the year. Does are mature and can breed at 5 to 6 months of age and can continue to have young for 4 years.
Mother rabbits don't want to attract predators to their babies, so they mostly leave them on their own, hidden and camoflaged. Mom will come back a few times a day, usually between dusk and dawn, to feed the babies.
Don't expect to find a mother rabbit since they usually only visit the nest once or twice a day to avoid leading predators to the babies. However, you can set up a string around the nest to make sure the mother comes back to feed the babies and has not abandoned the nest.

You and your children can peek at the baby rabbits, but don't touch them. If anyone picks up a bunny, return it to the nest. A little human scent will not prevent the mother from caring for her young.
