If you're in a relationship, it's not unusual to give your partner nicknames, including but not limited to: bae, baby, my love, boo, sweetheart, etc.
Men like being complimented on their appearance, as well as their personality. Nicknames are a great way to express affection and familiarity. "Cutie" or Good-looking" are great nicknames when flirting, while names like "Babe" or "Honey" are better for committed relationships.
A term of endearment is word or phrase used to address another person, animal or even object for which the speaker feels affection. They are most often used to refer to a lover, child, or pet. Terms of endearment are often romantic, but they can also be used in non-romantic situations.
“Partner” sounds business-like and quite a few same-sex couples use the term, so if you are not gay, it may mislead during the introduction. “Paramour” is old-fashioned. “Beau” is again formal and dated, “fiance” implies plans to marry, “escort” may imply “for pay,” “soul mate” is sappy. These sentimental words evoke a more genteel time. Don't overdo the old-fashioned vocabulary, however. Referring to a man as your “suitor” may be fun. But calling him your “swain” is just going to make people think he's a swine.
Boo, darling, love, honey, sweetheart – when there are so many beautiful terms of affection to use, why call your husband by his actual name?

Nowadays, the order of the names—whether his name or hers comes first—does not matter and either way is acceptable. The exception is when one member of the couple 'outranks' the other—the one with the higher rank is always listed first.
