EX Grenades in Death Stranding are non-lethal, utility grenades made from the protagonist Sam's bodily fluids (sweat, urine, feces) that repel or manipulate BTs (Beached Things), creating paths, gathering them for attack, or even eliminating them permanently in advanced forms, serving as crucial early-game tools to avoid or manage encounters with invisible monsters. They work by making BTs "grossed out," causing different effects like fleeing (EX 0, 1), attracting them (EX 2), or destroying them (EX 1+) when Sam is exhausted.
The EX Grenades also stun BT bosses for a short time, just like hematic grenades. They also appear to wash off the tar from the BT, making it easier to damage with other attacks.
A grenade that has a special effect on large BTs (catchers). Defeating a weakened catcher by throwing an EX capture grenade into its mouth will produce a BT crystal. Like other grenades, these can be stored in a regular grenade pouch.

4 Most Powerful U.S. Grenades in Military History
The earliest known examples of grenades appeared as early as the 700s, in the Eastern Roman Empire (also known as the Byzantine Empire). A century before, Greek fire had been invented, and the Byzantines soon experimented with filling stone or ceramic jars with the incendiary liquid.
The No. 73 grenade, also known as the "Thermos", "Woolworth bomb", or "hand percussion grenade", was a British anti-tank grenade used during the Second World War. It got its nickname from the resemblance to a Thermos flask.
A flashbang creates a noise louder than 170 decibels when ammonium nitrate is detonated. For comparison, a jet engine is just over 140 decibels. A sudden noise that loud can cause temporary deafness and tinnitus. It also disrupts the inner ear fluid, which can cause a loss of balance.
Despite their explosive power, it isn't the explosion itself that's harmful. It's the shrapnel. When a grenade blows up, the steel body disintegrates into a multitude of tiny pieces. Those fragments hurtle through the air in all directions, like a shotgun blast.
Uniquely from other enemies in the game, the skeletal soldiers (and possibly Cliff himself) are susceptible to both conventional and hematic weaponry. This means they take roughly double damage from lethal weapons on the hematic firing mode, or when firing through blood clouds.
If Sam is seized by BTs, one well-place grenade can free him. However, larger BTs require multiple hits: up to six Level 1 grenades, four custom grenades, or three fully charged Level 2 grenades may be needed—delivering a total of approximately 300 ml of Sam's blood.
The game is set in an apocalyptic United States, where a cataclysmic event known as the "Death Stranding" caused "Beached Things" ("BTs")—invisible creatures originating from the "Beach", lands thought to be unique to each person that are typically visited during near-death experiences and are said to be the link to ...
The No 1 was the first British grenade of World War One (1914-1918). It consisted of a canister with a wooden handle. It was armed by removing a safety pin through the top. When thrown, the handle and attached linen streamer ensured it landed nose down so that the striker was forced into the detonator.
This brave hero jumped on a grenade to save his fellow Marine, using his body as a shield. His body was riddled with shrapnel and the bones in his skull and face were shattered. Kyle was declared dead on arrival at Camp Bastion. Somehow, he survived.
The stick grenade, which was the standard hand grenade of German soldiers during World War I, was designed to detonate after either a 5.5 or 7 second delay, although some exploded on contact.
Despite these rare instances, the odds of survival are extremely slim. With modern medicine, however, odds are greatly increased when compared to falling on a grenade in the 20th century.
Remember in the “Captain America” film when scrawny but altruistic, Steve Rogers jumped on a grenade to absorb the blow so his fellow soldiers would not perish? Luckily for him, this was just a test and one in which nobody was harmed.
TL;DR: Hideo Kojima has a concept for Death Stranding 3 but is not currently planning to develop it, viewing Death Stranding 2 as a finale. At 62, Kojima focuses on new projects like the experimental horror game OD and the espionage thriller PHYSINT, while also producing a Death Stranding film.
Cliff Unger is stated in-game to not be a BT, and he's clearly not an Extinctuon Entity (EE) either, because when he was killed he had literally no control over death, the beaches or anything. He just died.
The reverse trike is faster than BTs in their "investigating state," as long as the player doesn't use boost mode. This holds true even on Very Hard difficulty.
