Eddie dies sacrificing himself and the other characters all feel the impact of what he has done. It's easy to imagine a final season of Stranger Things that will aim to be as emotional and impactful as Eddie's final moments in the Upside Down. If you've watched season 4, you'll know that our beloved Hellfire King Eddie was brutally killed in the final episode after being bitten to death by Demobats. Fans were absolutely devastated by his death, and have been desperately calling for him to somehow return in season 5.
Eddie's death was a heavy blow to the audience as they were rendered inconsolable in the wake of the awful incident. However, fans have also concocted various theories and multiple speculations ever since, all of which involve the revival of the leader of the Hellfire Club.
The Duffer brothers stated that the only logical conclusion to Eddie's story was death. In a way, he was meant to be a tragic character. "There was never any other arc for him and there was no 'how do you survive this'?" said Ross Duffer. "At the very end, you see people still drawing devil horns on his head.
Did Eddie Munson Die? According to the Duffer brothers, yes. In an interview on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, the writers/creators/directors confirmed that Eddie Munson is gone, and he's not coming back.
On top of that, Will Byers confirms that Vecna is, in fact, alive. Byers has a deep connection with Upside Down, so he can always sense the existence of Mind Flayer or Vecna. After returning to Hawkins, Will can sense that Vecna is injured and in pain, but the demon from Upside Down isn't dead.
and Joseph Quinn, and others involved with production as to whether or not Eddie will return have also generally pointed towards 'no'. On the Emmys red carpet, producer Shwan Levy said that the chances of Eddie returning were “highly unlikely.”
What did Eddie keep in his helmet and what purpose did it serve? Eddie kept a picture of Marguerite in his helmet so that he could see her when he was out at war. After Eddie set fire to the barn, what caused him to run into it? Eddie tried to run into the burning barn because he thought there was a child in it.
Eddie may not become a vampire per se, but according to theory, there's the potential for him to simply be undead and be brought back by Vecna to torture our still-living characters. It's a thought that has floated around the fandom for years and with Vecna's deceitful nature, it doesn't seem far-fetched.
Instead of fleeing again, as he did in previous instances of danger, this time Eddie stands his ground and fights. It's his last heroic act. Though Eddie manages to occupy the Demobats until the battle is over, he succumbs to his wounds. He dies in Dustin's arms in the Upside Down, and his body is never recovered.
The fact that Eddie was killed by Demobats also supports the vampire theory, as the bats' bites could possibly turn him into a vampire instead of killing him completely.
'' Eddie was mad, but he pushed through his anger and sacrificed himself regardless, which is much more powerful than painting him as a saint who always reacted appropriately and calmly.
The kicker of it all? Eddie's final words to Dustin: "I love you, man." If those words weren't already bringing on the waterworks, Dustin tearfully replies "I love you, too." And then Eddie is gone. The impact of those words in that moment could not have been more perfectly heartbreaking.
Vecna revealed in season four, he was the one who created the Mind Flayer after Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) banished him to the Upside Down. All this time, the Mind Flayer was Vecna, who was using the entity to carry out his orders and speaking through the creature.
Stranger Things Theory: Eddie Is Actually 010 From the Hawkins Lab Massacre. A Stranger Things theory suggests that Eleven wasn't the only test subject to survive the Hawkins Lab Massacre, and that Eddie Munson is actually 010.

At his empire's height, Vecna was betrayed and destroyed by his most trusted lieutenant, a vampire called Kas the Bloody-Handed, using a magical sword that Vecna himself had crafted for him, now known as the Sword of Kas.
Based on the flashback in “The Hellfire Club”, he killed an estimated 21 people: 13 lab subjects, two orderlies, two guards, Ten, Alec, Dr. Ellis, and Six. A flashback during “The Massacre at Hawkins Lab” later reveals that Vecna killed even more people in Hawkins Lab than we thought.
The whole curse about a week, and 24 hours after the visions start, Chrissy enters a drawn-out trance and Vecna gruesomely kills her: she levitates, all her bones break, and her eyes are gouged out.
Within the theory, Eddie is revealed to be Ten, the Hawkins Lab kid who first sensed that something was wrong during the opening scene's massacre.

The idea is that Eddie could not have died from the bites of demo-bats alone, so, instead, he is transformed into another creature based on D&D characters. According to this theory, Eddie will be turned into Kas, a vampire creature who wields a spiky shield, similar to Eddie's spike-covered trash-can lid.
