The nine core traits of Schizotypal Personality Disorder (STPD) involve cognitive/perceptual distortions, social deficits, and disorganized thinking/behavior, including: ideas of reference, odd beliefs/magical thinking, unusual perceptual experiences, odd thinking/speech, paranoid ideation, inappropriate affect, eccentric behavior, lack of close friends, and excessive social anxiety. Exploratory analyses showed affective empathy was related to two schizotypal traits, constricted affect and no close friends. Ultimately they found that high schizotypal individuals had low levels of affective and cognitive empathy and the low levels of empathy related to low levels of social functioning.

Schizotypal disorder is characterized by pervasive patterns of odd behavior, appearance, or thinking. There is also a high degree of overlap in symptoms between schizotypal and borderline personality disorders.
There are so many similarities between Schizotypal Personality Disorder and ASD that many people have questioned whether SPD is genetic autism. This isn't the case, though many research studies have found definitive links between the two disorders.
