Middle class dog owners usually pick Victorian names which make their dog sound like an additional child: Victoria, Emma, Sophie, Albert, Jack. The lower middles, if they have dogs, will often try to upgrade their own social status by dubbing their dog something grand like Prince, Duke, Duchess, Venus, Rex.
The classic dog name theme is mostly a descriptive one, but some names are eternally canine and can be given to any dog of any size, color, or breed. These names include Fido, Rex, and Champ for boys and Lassie, Missy, and Roxy for girls.

Queen Elizabeth II, the monarch who brought stability to a changing nation. She leaves behind at least four dogs — two corgis, one cocker spaniel and one dorgi (a dachshund corgi hybrid that the Queen is credited in originating). Their names are Muick, Sandy, Lissy and Candy, respectively.
The first time the Queen ever looked after a corgi was when she was just seven years old. As a gift from her parents the Duke and Duchess of York, the young monarch was given a Pembroke Welsh corgi, registered under the name Rozavel Golden Eagle - otherwise known by his nickname Dookie.
She also leaves behind her beloved four-legged friends. As she famously said, "My corgis are family." The Queen had four dogs at the time of her death: two Pembroke Welsh Corgis named Sandy and Muick, a Dorgi (Corgi-Dachshund mix), and a Cocker Spaniel named Lissy. Lissy joined the family in January 2022.
