Overview. After her death in childbirth on Polis Massa, Amidala's body was returned to Naboo for the proper funeral rites. As powerful as Darth Sidious may have been, it's easy to forget he actually seemed afraid of Master Yoda. As seen in Revenge of the Sith, Palpatine initially thought he could deal with the aged Jedi Master - and then, when Yoda proved able to counter the Sith Lord's Force lightning, he fled.
Anakin does not have even the slightest bit of remorse. By the end, he feels nothing but anger. Although he feels regret for killing Padme, he still helps the evil Emperor. The film ends with Anakins standing side by side with the man on whose behalf he has committed all his crimes.
Had Anakin not converted: Padme would have been killed by the Emperor before childbirth, and before Anakin and Obi wan returned from the mission to destroy general Grievous. Regardless: order 66 probably still would have happened since the army was under control of the dicator in Palpatine.
Before he could enter, however, Vader was stopped by Sabé, Eirtaé, Rabé, Saché, and Dormé, former handmaidens of Amidala, who refused to let him enter into the grave so he would not desecrate it. However, Vader would not be denied. As he entered the tomb, he became flooded with memories of Amidala.
Jedi Master Yoda is the most powerful of them all. This should come as no surprise, as he was the head of the Jedi Order in the prequels and was revered for his abilities during the original trilogy. Yoda's power is unmatched and was a real threat to Darth Vader and the Imperials.
It's implied that this isn't feigning and Palpatine is actually fighting to win. In the book its implied that he allows Mace to move him and make certain moves, however this is a not uncommon dueling tactic, waiting for openings and surprising an opponent.
Arguably, Qui-Gon is wiser in some ways, given that he knows how to preserve his consciousness in death. Yoda is wise, but sometimes flawed, given that some of his views align with the problematic thinking of the Jedi of this era.
The book then digs into one of the final scenes in The Phantom Menace, where Anakin watches Qui-Gon's funeral pyre blaze and “feeling a profound sense of loss.” After leaving his mother and the only home he's ever known, Anakin then experienced intense battle and the loss of a person who promised him a better future.
For Obi-Wan to reach Qui-Gon he must remember how to reach the Force. He must close his eyes that have seen so much failure, death, and destruction, and remember what it takes to truly see that which binds us all. When he does he will not only learn how to become a Force Ghost, he will once again be a great Jedi.
Sidious himself felt that he and his peers had outgrown the use of lightsabers, and only continued carrying them to mock the Jedi. He ultimately viewed his own lightsabers as little more than an affectation, and rarely wielded them in combat.

What he did not see, at the time at least, was that Padmé used her last breaths to tell Obi-Wan that she was certain that in regards to her husband, "there's still good in him." Now, those words are set to be revealed to someone other than Darth Vader himself.
