The evidence that proves the identity of Jack the Ripper
A shawl found by the body of Catherine Eddowes that contains 'forensic stains' has been used to identify the killer as Aaron Kosminski, a 23-year-old barber from Poland.

The killer appeared in London's Whitechapel district in 1888 and murdered five women—all prostitutes—and mutilated their corpses. Police surmised the killer was a surgeon, butcher, or someone skilled with a scalpel.
Despite an extensive police investigation, the Ripper was never identified and the crimes remained unsolved. Years after the end of the murders, documents were discovered that revealed the suspicions of police officials against a man referred to as "Kosminski".

Aaron Kosminki is perhaps one of the most well-known Jack the Ripper suspects, in part thanks to the recent DNA analysis and investigation of a shawl that allegedly belonged to the fourth Ripper victim, Catherine Eddowes.
However, the police do seem to have taken him very seriously as a witness. According to Scwharz, the man was about 5 feet, 5 inches tall, aged around 30 with dark hair, a fair complexion, a small brown moustache. He had a full face, broad shoulders and appeared to be slightly intoxicated.
By removing the kidney from Catherine Eddowes, Jack the Ripper may have tried to take possession of the conscience, emotions and desires of one of his victims, attributes residing in the kidney as described in the Bible.
Where Did the Name Come From? In September 1888, a letter was received by the Central News Agency. It was written in red ink and boasted about the Ripper's crimes, ending with a signature from 'Jack the Ripper'.
It's been said that Jack the Ripper was left-handed. This is based on forensic analysis of his crime scenes and of the bodies of his victims. However, no one ever found out who Jack the Ripper really was, which makes it impossible to know for sure if he actually was a lefty.
Murder was uncommon
A key reason that the Ripper was never caught is a simple one, that murder was still uncommon during the reign of Queen Victoria. In the Metropolitan Police area, there were 13 murders in 1887, 28 in 1888 and 17 in 1889.
