Parents need to know that the level of violence is very intense in Squid Game. Characters are systematically tortured and killed for the sadistic pleasure of a game master. Adults have sex, and there are threats of sexual violence: Women are grabbed by the hair and beaten.
It's nothing new to a kid who has watched “Stranger Things,” but it might not feel appropriate for a younger crowd. I took my two teens, ages 13 and 14, who watched the entire series and loved it. They both had a great time and, while we all jumped a few times, they both reported that it was exciting, but not scary.
The show does have jump scares, but it's not the same as like watching a movie about a serial killer or something. In fact, the show's jump scares are few and far between. Plus, in most scenes you get a warning that it's about to come.

There is kissing, sexual references, and talking about sex in Stranger Things Season 4. There is talk about boobies and liking boobies and a flashback scene of characters making out. A male character has his shirt off in some scenes.
There are intense monster/slasher-type scares, with frequent death, peril, and gore. Children and teens are killed gruesomely, and people are attacked or taken by genuinely scary monsters, their bodies manipulated, possessed, and absorbed.
Wednesday is rated TV-14 for violence, fear, and profanity, which means it may not be suitable for children under 14 years old. Keep in mind that age ratings are simply suggestions — your child might be able to handle the show before age 14, or you may have a child older than 14 who finds it too scary.
The game itself is a scary experience designed to thrill and unsettle. It has been rated as suitable for 13 year-olds by ESRB and for 12 year-olds by PEGI. This includes descriptors for Violence, Blood from ESRB and Moderate Violence and Horror from PEGI.
Squid Game is absolutely not for children.
