Trade, tourism and multiculturalism, specifically, have been the most important factors of strengthening two neighbouring countries' cooperative partnership. Despite this, historical, political and cultural disputes have still played several roles on the relations between South Korea and China.
They have a close special relationship and China is often considered to be North Korea's closest ally. China and North Korea have a mutual aid and co-operation treaty, signed in 1961, which is currently the only defense treaty either country has with any nation.
Other common themes point to other negative features associated with China in South Korea: “dirty,” “counterfeits,” or “selfish.”
Free trade agreements

Diplomatic relations between South Korea and the Republic of China (Taiwan) were terminated on 23 August 1992, followed by South Korean recognition of the People's Republic of China (PRC, Communist China) and formation of bilateral recognition between them.
Bhutan is the only UN member state that has never explicitly recognised either the PRC or the ROC. The Republic of China considers itself to be the sole legitimate government of China (including Taiwan), and therefore claims exclusive sovereignty over all territory controlled by the PRC.
South Korea has a long military alliance with the United States, aiding the U.S. in every war since the Vietnam War, including the Iraq War.
Japan and Nigeria engage in strong economic and political cooperation. Both countries established diplomatic relations on 1 October 1960.
After the collapse of the Soviet Union, South Korea and Russia established diplomatic ties in 1991. On November 20, 1992 Russia and South Korea signed a protocol providing for regular visits of defence officials and naval vessels between the two countries.
According to a genetic distance measurements from a large scale genetic study from 2021 titled 'Genomic insights into the formation of human populations in East Asia', Koreans are genetically closest to Japanese, followed by a larger margin by Northern Han on FST genetic distance measurements.
China entered into diplomatic relations with Malaysia, Thailand, the Philippines, Bangladesh and Maldives in Southeast Asia and South Asia, seven countries including Iran, Turkey and Kuwait in West Asia and the Middle East and five countries in South Pacific such as Fiji and Papua New Guinea.
South Korea is not a member of the alliance but has close ties to it and in November opened a diplomatic mission at NATO's headquarters in Brussels.

The Korean foreign minister was compelled to promptly issue a statement saying “It is a fact recognized by the international community that Korea was not a part of China during the thousands of years of historical relations between the two.”
The Australia–Japan partnership is Australia's closest and most mature in Asia and is fundamental to both countries' strategic and economic interests. The relationship is underpinned by a shared commitment to democracy, human rights and the rule of law, as well as common approaches to international security.
