Severus Snape was a good person by the events of the series. Some arguments against his being a good person focus solely on what made him switch sides in the first place — Lily being in danger from Voldemort.
When questioned by Bellatrix about his loyalties, Snape says he has been working for Voldemort ever since Voldemort's return, and explains his actions in the previous books in that light. He points out that gaining Dumbledore's trust and protection has kept him out of Azkaban and free to operate on Voldemort's behalf.
However, he was never an immediate villain. He stuck to his word with Dumbledore that he would protect Harry until the very end. Had he lived, Severus Snape could have developed a more understanding relationship with Harry and perhaps would have become less bitter with Voldemort out of the picture.

So in summary, Snape is so angry with Harry in particular because he is petty in a sense; punishing the son for the sins of a father he never knew. He's ferocious with the other houses and is only nice to his Slytherins because he needs to preserve his role as a spy.
He doesn't trust Snape as Dumbledore does, but he believes that he can detect any disloyalty. Moreover, Voldemort regards Snape as highly intelligent and therefore ' as a true Slytherin ' a person whose top priority is to take care of himself. To his twisted mind, selfless equals stupid.
He wants to bring an end to the Dark Lord. Though these characters do share the extreme views Slytherins are known for, they also have traits other than just being evil. They are flawed, but they also chose to make a stand against Voldemort despite initially choosing to side with him. They choose to be more than evil.
Having gone through the horrors of the second wizarding war as a Death Eater, Draco abandoned the pure-blood beliefs he was originally devoted to, and grew to become a better person than he was in his youth, growing more tolerant and accepting of the non-pure-bloods of the wizarding world.

Dumbledore Might Have Despised Snape At One Time
For somebody who so clearly loathed Snape for his rather twisted thought, it seems unlikely that Dumbledore would have been very friendly with him afterward. They developed a mutual respect, that goes without saying.
Because Snape felt that Harry was his only remaining tie to Lily, and working with Dumbledore to protect Harry was his only remaining way of expressing his love for Lily, by honoring her memory. Dumbledore did keep up his part of the deal. He hid the Potters. He did everything he could to keep them safe.
Now, Harry saw Snape talking to the portrait of Dumbledore behind his desk. In order to preserve his position as a trusted Death Eater, Severus Snape was forced to tell Voldemort the true date at which the Order planned to move Harry.
DUMBLEDORE WAS A BETTER CHARACTER: He Was More Powerful
Throughout the entire franchise, we wanted to see just what Dumbledore was capable of, and boy did he show it... eventually. Snape, while great at making potions, just couldn't compete with Dumbledore in a physical sense, so he loses out on this one.
Dumbledore reveals how thoroughly he loves Harry. Harry is brave, and Dumbledore is proud as any father would be. More than that, Dumbledore succumbs to a parent's weakness; he cares more about Harry's happiness and wellbeing than the wizarding world he is trying to protect.
It probably had at least a little bit to do with her friendship with Harry Potter. Additionally, her brilliance made it harder to favor the Slytherins. No matter the cause, it's clear that Snape loathed that Hermione was so smart and so willing to answer any and all questions during class.
Not only did Snape ignore that Lily didn't return his feelings and resent her choice after he was emotionally abusive to her, but he also blamed James for his own behavior. This lack of personal responsibility is an unfortunate cliché that may have been a factor in Lily's unwillingness to reciprocate Snape's advances.
Her leaving Snape wasn't a sign of her being a bad friend but rather that their interests no longer clashed as he was studying something that Lily despised. They just grew apart over time, and that was no fault of Lily's.
