Obi-Wan Kenobi, also known as Ben Kenobi, was a human male Jedi Master who served on the Jedi High Council during the final years of the Republic Era. As a Jedi General, Kenobi served in the Grand Army of the Republic that fought against the Separatist Droid Army during the Clone Wars.
Obi-Wan is introduced in Star Wars (1977) as a mysterious elderly hermit who lives in the Dune Sea of Tatooine. At this time he lives under the alias Ben Kenobi to hide his identity from agents of the Galactic Empire.
In the book Kenobi, he mentions he picked the name Ben because Satine used to call him that.
