Lucas himself said Jar Jar was "the key to all of this," but the canon has quietly confirmed that he was never a Sith Lord. However, Darth Jar Jar has done more justice to the character and, by extension, the prequel films, than anything in canon.

The driving force behind the Darth Jar Jar theory is that Binks was so absurdly clumsy and inept that it borders on an act. It would be the perfect cover-up for a Sith apprentice who wanted to infiltrate the Republic, since he'd be the last person anyone would consider as the culprit.
During the fighting, Amidala accidentally ripped her envirosuit while tackling Jar Jar to save him from blaster fire, exposing herself to the virus. Fortunately for Binks and his companions, Anakin and Kenobi returned with the antidote. Binks and his companions survived their ordeal in Dr. Vindi's laboratory.
Was Jar Jar be in Obi-Wan Kenobi? It was technically possible that Jar Jar could make an appearance in the show considering that it takes place ten years after Revenge of the Sith, filling in the gaps between the fall of the Republic and the events of A New Hope. However, that was not what ended up happening.
