Although it is 3 hours long, the movie is exciting and intense, which, together with the violence and scary scenes, makes it unsuitable for children under 10, not recommended for children under 12 and parental guidance is recommended for children aged 12 – 13 years old.
How about younger children? If your family is ok with war-like violence (guns, arrows, explosions) and your 8-year-old has seen similar movies (Marvel, Star Wars, etc), then Avatar 2 will be ok for them as well.
Avatar has a run time of 2 hours and 41 minutes, so most kids will not want to sit through the film. The Avatar 2 age rating was confirmed with the release date a couple of weeks away. The British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) gave it a 12 certificate. It had already been given a PG-13 certificate in North America, which usually translates over as 12 in the UK, so it's pretty much as expected.

If your kids have seen Avatar (2009) and enjoyed it, they are probably safe to watch Avatar 2 as it's generally more of the same. It's actually very much more of the same as the plot doesn't change too much from the first film.
The violence isn't very INTENSE, but the film does deserve it's PG-13 rating. Bow and arrows are present, plus some killing and explosions -- still, nothing gets TOO over the top, and its still TWEEN and TEEN friendly. Also expect strong but INFREQUENT uses of s--t and one or two uses of f--k.

Your kids will need to be at least 44 inches to ride (about the height of the average 5-6 year old). The diving and fast-paced simulation may be too intense for kids – use caution when taking them on this ride.
If you're willing to look past the lack of originality in the story, then Avatar 2 is definitely worth checking out. If you love the world of Avatar and enjoy amazing special effects and animation, then it's a great film to see. Just don't expect too much in terms of story and you'll have a good time.

Parents Need to Know
As in all superhero movies, there's plenty of violence -- in this case, mostly brutal hand-to-hand combat that gets quite intense, with bloody injuries and even deaths.
This movie, while very good, is not appropriate as a family movie, certainly not for 12 year olds as indicated.

Wednesday Age Rating
Wednesday is rated TV-14 for violence, fear, and profanity, which means it may not be suitable for children under 14 years old.
Film Exhibitors' United Organisation of Kerala (FEUOK) decided to ban the film after its producers demanded a 60 percent share in profits, above the usual 50 percent for producers, in the first few weeks of release.
Mature (M)
M-rated films and computer games are not recommended for children under the age of 15. They include portrayals of elements such as violence and themes that require a mature outlook. However, children under the age of 15 may legally access this material as the classification rating is an advisory category.
Avatar: The Way of Water is available for streaming on Disney Plus in Australia, but The Last Airbender (aka the Avatar movie) movie from 2010 is available for streaming on Netflix Australia, plus a new live-action show is coming to Netflix in 2023.
