Text and pictures may be somewhat blurry. Fake chase cards like full art trainers and EX, GX, and V/VMAX cards will often have a slightly reflective back in addition to their reflective fronts.
Your chances of pulling this one are about 1:271 packs. Ouch. The difference between this Charizard VMAX and the others is that this one was released after the huge Pokémon card boom in 2021. Upon release, this card was selling well beyond $500 a piece, sometimes hitting as high as $700.

By far the biggest weakness of VMAX Pokemon is how costly it is when they finally go down for the count. As players of the Sword & Shield era of Pokemon TCG know only too well, defeating a VMAX nets three Prize Cards. They're each worth half the total Prize Card pool per game.
This version of Arceus VSTAR is printed as a Gold Rare, the highest card rarity in most modern Pokémon sets.

These cards have been the highest rarity cards in any of the Sword & Shield-era booster packs, especially once TPCi introduced alternate-art versions of these Pokémon VMAX so that players and collectors could focus on finding the absolute best versions of these powerful Pokémon.
VMAX cards made their way into the Pokémon TCG in 2020 shortly after the release of the Sword and Shield video game. They very quickly became the dominant card in the game with the meta shifting to accommodate them. More VMAX cards have been added over time in various expansions like Lost Origin.
While the genuine Charizard is still fully visible, all of the text and design disappears on the counterfeit! The low angle of the lighting also reveals the height differences of the card in relation to the holographic area.
Most counterfeit cards that have tried to replicate this black layer often do it incorrectly, if they even try to replicate it at all. If you ever perform the rip test, make sure the streak you see along the rip is black. If the color is not black, the Pokémon card is fake.
Pokémon cards made officially by The Pokémon Company may actually be made with real gold – these are extremely rare and were released for special occasions, like the 20-year anniversary. As for the Burger King gold-plated cards and other mass-produced gold cards, these items are not made from real gold.
